Government St Redesign

Great news for Midcity. If anyone had a chance to check out the Better Block demo, then you have an idea of what it will look like.

Didn't they just spend a bunch of money improving the surface of govt street?

Good. Government St. has needed a redo for a while now.

From my experience driving through BR, the people there can't handle three lanes.

Check out the comments from some people on the Advocates site

LINK

They did studies that show this will make the traffic flow better. I guess people don't read.

All the time. And there are always clusters when someone tries to turn left. It'll get interesting when people coming from both directions are trying to use the same part of the turn lane.

Pretty much, but instead of 5 total lanes, it will be 3 total lanes.

I live in Midcity and the neighborhood where I live has been advocating for this for a while. I think this is great and will help the area out a lot.

Should be two lanes with a tree lined walking/bicycle path down the middle.

Traffic can use the very nice North Street that never gets used

People seem to figure it out pretty easily in the other locations where they have turning lanes. The reduction of lanes and tighter space will naturally slow people down. Pretty typical traffic calming measure.

People like forming opinions without thinking. I would like to get into it with them but I'm not about to put my real name on my comment.
