Anyone have any experience with Uverse wireless receivers?

I am getting ready to switch from DirecTv to Uverse as they are offering a better 12 month deal at the moment. I have to select receivers and I am considering getting one of the wireless ones. I have a back porch that I wouldn't mind moving a TV out to occasionally. My only concern is the range of the receiver. The current gateway for the internet is in the 2nd story towards the front of the house. I'm wondering if I'll have to ask the guys to move the gateway closer to the back of the house.
Anyone have one of the wireless receivers? Any good/bad experiences? Any issues with range?

Mine is on a different floor but pretty close to the access point. There is this little router thing you plug into their modem/router and you have to connect it to the receiver. Pretty easy.
I was adding a flat screen in my daughters playroom (I told her it was so she could watch cartoons in there but it is really so I can watch sports) and I had specifically asked for a wired box after I had run the cable and installed an outlet there. The tech shows up and all he had were wireless ones. I thought there might be an issue with them but it has been up there for months with no issues. Occasionally if the power blinks I'll have to reset it.

I have gone through four receivers and three modems in half a year. Their equipment and service is garbage.

I've had one for two weeks and it works just fine.
The "access point" is on the second floor but that hasn't been a problem.

So should I not pay the $50 for a wireless one and just assume they'll give me one anyway?

I showed him my service order and it had the wired one. He said they wouldn't charge me for this but I'd think if you are ordering some wired and some wireless you'll have to pay for them.

Love the wireless receiver. I have a tv in my garage that I will bring it on the back deck from time to time. The wireless box makes that a piece of cake.

Definitely don't pay extra for wireless. It is easier for them to set up than the wired. The guy laughed when I told him they charge extra online.

my signal is fine on my back porch from an upstairs access point.

I'd recommend to wire your stationary devices and use wireless only for a TV you want to move around at times.

I have one on the back porch. Works fine. No problems.

I ordered the wired receivers, tech showed up and I got two wireless ones. I've had 0 issues with them since installed 6 months ago.

They charge you for additional receivers wireless or not.

So is everyone here satisfied with Uverse? I plan on making the switch this before the 29th while they are offering the $250 gift card to switch but keep dragging my feet.

I ended up negotiating a better deal with DirecTv. I find the key with them is calling and scheduling a cancellation date a couple weeks out. I usually wait a week to call back and the deal they offer is always better. I've still got 8 months left on the contract, so I took their 6 month discount offer. When it runs up, I'll call back and start the same process.

Very satisfied. Been with uverse for a couple years now. Never have any equipment or service problems (knocks on wood)

No signal issues but we have constant problems with accessing the DVR from the wireless boxes

I've had one for about two years on a different floor than the main hub. Haven't had a problem once.

I've set up one of the back porch at least a good 20+ft from the modem and it worked.
