The only two of my Grandparents who were alive when I was born was my Dad's dad who was born in 1886 and my Mom's mom who was born in 1896. I know that their spouses were born in the 1800's but I'm not sure what year. That seems a very very long time ago for one who is in their 50's Grandparents to be born and what a vastly different world it was especially regarding people's attitudes about children.
I'm just wondering how many of you also have/had Grandparents born in the 1800's. It would be interesting to know who has the Grandparent born longest ago.

I'm guessing you're one of the youngest in your family as well.

My paternal grandmother was born in 1899 on the SW LA prairie.

There were Indians who lived in huts in the woods behind her house.

She spoke hardly any English. Hell, my Dad didn't learn English until he went to school.

I'm 48. My Grandfather on my Mother's side was born in the late 1800's. I had a Great Grandfather who lived to be 103 was born in 1870!

Pretty amazing when you think about the changes that occurred during their lifetimes.
