Setting up grill & tent for parades

Besides the 6ft rule, any other ordinances I should know about? Plan setting up on St Charles tomorrow.

We boiled some crawfish out there in the past. Not sure about the new rules.

You can't technically cook underneath a tent, but its one of those rules only enforced rarely and not by NOPF but NOFD

Rule #1: Just don't be a dick about it.

i didnt think they were allowing tents and "roping off" areas anymore. Also may have been something regarding grills as well.

This.
I had always heard no grills on St. Charles, but I know it was hit and miss if enforced.
Would be suprised if they fight too much about tents. Just feed the cops near you and you will probably be ok.

Help me out with the logistics of this: you actually schlep a grill & cook over hot coals on the neutral ground? I see people w/tents & chafing dishes & already cooked food, but rarely see people on the uptown route doing the cooking out in public. NOLA streets are not an LSU pregame tailgate. Since when is this a good idea? It's gonna be dark and wet out there. I'm not being snarky, I'm just trying to figure out why you would want to do this.

Are you sure you're on the parade route if you rarely see that?
Seriously though, it's been very common for a while now. I'm really not sure how you could miss it.

Guess it depends on where you stand for a parade. Maybe if I moved a block or two from my usual spot I'd see something. Ha. What's wrong w/chicken in a box? Kick it old school. Leave the grill at home, unless you're under the overpass on Claiborne. Then you can sell me a plate of ribs.

I'm just curious where it isn't happening. Throughout Mardi Gras, I'll walk from Napoleon to Lee Circle several times, and see grills pretty much everywhere.
I will say it seems less prevalent on Napoleon and that first few blocks after the turn onto St Charles though.

I ain't going to lie. St. Charles has become a cluster fck the last several years. With all of the tents, ropes, chairs, etc and ladders up front, it was just stupid.

No doubt. Part of me doesn't like the new rules, but part of me is kind of smiling on the inside since the most I ever bring out usually is a step ladder and some chairs.

I remember the days when we used to bring couches out to the route.

Mardi Gras truly brings out the a-hole in people.

I saw a few out near the Tulane frats last year.
It's been a few years since I've been on Orleans for Endymion, but I think people used to move half of their house out there in some areas.
