what to wear, dress code formal. Victoria and Albert's??

I'm a little confused on the dress code being formal. Does that mean suit?
Or will a blazer, shirt tie and nice slacks suffice?

I have never been to Victoria and Albert's and am looking forward to a week from tonight, but want to make sure I am dressed right.

I've always thought the term "formal" meant black tie (i.e, tux) for men and long evening dresses for women. I can't imagine that's what they mean here, though.

I have eaten there several time. Slacks and sport coat for me, a casual dress for the wife. I have seen people in jeans, fwiw.

are you talking about the restaurant at Disney World? If so, they clearly explain on their website that dress is coat and tie.

The preferred term is "nice jeans."

I have seen a few guys with ties, but everyone didn't have a tie. I didn't.

From their website:

"Dress Code

Guests must wear proper attire.

Men must wear dinner jackets with dress pants or slacks and shoes. Ties are optional. Women may wear a cocktail dress, nice dress, dressy pant suit or a skirt with a blouse.

Jeans, shorts, capri pants, sandals, flip-flops or tennis shoes are not permitted."

what is your opinion of it?

Me and the gf like to eat out a lot and I just wanted to have a nice meal on our date night.
I was thinking slacks, a blazer and a tie.

But if I need a suit, then I need to drop one off at the cleaners like today.
I have three suits and almost never wear them. One for funerals, one for weddings and one seersucker.

A sports coat and slacks are fine.

went last night, one of the best meals of my life. Still snacking on the candy and bread they gave me when I left.

We did add on the Wagu but not the Kobe, she had the wine, I had two old fashioneds (only $7 each..)

Was just excellent. Best presentation and pairings. Her wine was excellent as well. With tip it came to right around $400 for two to eat.
Table next to me got 3x Kobe (an extra $100) the caviar (extra $120) and a 2003 something wine they made a huge deal about.

Can't imagine their bill.

Evertyhing was excellent, 7 courses of pure excellence. Worth every penny for sure.

Too bad I didn't have anything to celebrate.
