Speed skiing?

Can you ever envision it being brought back as a winter Olympic sport again? I vaguely remember it as a demo sport in '92 IIRC.

That shite was nuts. I don't really know how it would have been a medal sport, but it was crazy.

Too dangerous. The human body does not like it when it is going 150 MPH and a wipeout occurs. Blunt force trauma at that speed is deadly.

And the competition for medals would push them to ever faster speeds.

Not wise to push as an Olympic sport, imo, no matter how bad arse it is.

Anyone who willingly does that is insane, but it looks awesome.

They shut that down because a man died on the course in the Olympics

I'm not trying to say I'd do that because frick no, I tucked a green once and got going probably ~60-70 and frick I was scared.

But that doesn't seem all that difficult, just tuck and minimize wind resistance. The danger way out ways the difficulty

I do remember when they were covering it and watching it every chance I could watch.

Here's a video of a 100+ mph run at the '92 Albertville Olympics with a recovery at end.

frick that. I love skiing, and I liked to have speed, but that's WAY too fast. Or at least for me, I would be scared shitless going down a hill at that speed.
