@RobRossi_Trib: 1 Cup, MVP, Ross. Twice golden. All by 26. All while carrying a team/league/nation. #CrosbyWatch has been something so far...

Sid gets the last laugh as they're all sucking his dick now.

So we lost Tavares for the year with ACL and MCL damage, and Zetterburg for the year with back surgery.

NHL can't catch a break with injuries.

re: mens gold medal hockey - Go Canada Go

Gotta bump this one back up for a Monday morning – must admit my murican padnahs have gone strangely silent since the US Finn game. Other than quick not many showed up, Gold again for the Canucks and unless the IOC or IIHF make the pot sweeter for the NHL owners it may be the last Olympics for the pros. Cant say I blame the owners – they lose revenue, players, momentum, etc and I think they get an attaboy from the IOC .

As far as Backstrom and drug test – its all on the Team SWE (trainers and physicians) for not informing them of what they can/cant take – rules were same for all and lots had to pee in a cup, timing was horrible and as far as SWE being depleted – yaa they were a little but the Canucks had no Tavares or Stamkos – so quit yer whining

Ran out of back bacon and maple syrup on Sunday but still had lots of Molson CDNs

Man, the IOC fricked Sweden hard. They knew Backstrom failed the test on Friday night, and didn't tell the Swedish team until they were taking pregame warmups. That's unconscionable. I think our drug rules are ridiculous anyway, but suspending a guy for taking Zyrtek is just weird (and yes, I know you can gain an advantage by taking a lot right before faceoff, but no one argues that's what Backs did -- he just takes allergy meds because he has allergies) and to do it in a way to make sure Sweden can't adjust is just needlessly punitive.

Very cool that Teemu Selanne was named tourney MVP. Way to go out for pretty much everyone's favorite player. He's all class, and a great player. Probably the greatest Olympic hockey play ever.

That said, how the hell was Drew Doughty not the MVP? Hell, he wasn't even the top defenseman (Karlsson was named D of the tourney). Canada's forwards not named Jeff Carter didn't show up until the finals and they were carried by blueline scoring. Additionally, the defense made sure that Price was never tested. Think about it: name one top tier save Price had to make. The defense played outstanding, and were the #1 reason Canada won the gold medal. A fantastic tourney by the entire D corps, but especially Doguhty. He was a beast, and he drew the toughest minutes (and had one of the best GD/60 of the tourney). He scored on you while also shutting down your top scorer. Total f'n badass.

Underrated player of the tourney: Rick Nash. He never scored a goal and only notched one assist, but he was always around the net and was Canada's most active forward (aside from Carter) all tourney long. Every time there was a scoring chance, it seemed like I heard his name. Didn't show up in the boxscore, but Nash had a subtly great Olympics.
