Oak Oven-Harahan Short review w/ pics

Tried the brand new Oak Oven today. It's across the street from the famous Kim Ahn's. They converted from a Popeye's to pizzeria.
I went for lunch today with a buddy and split a pizza and sandwich. I found the service and atmosphere were all fine. Waitress's visible hypercolored bra was mildly distracting. (no she wasn't deserving of )
Pizza: $14 "Maiale" roasted pork, fennel sausage, smoked bacon, and sweet onions. Excellent. Pizza was thin but had that little bite. Had sufficient toppings and were of high quality.
Sandwich: $9 "Polpetti" lamb meatball, sweet marjoram, tomato sauce with ricotta. Was also very good, though not as enjoyable as the pizza. The sandwich bread was so much thicker at the bottom it caused the sandwich to be undercooked. Several bites were quite chewy. Still good. The pizza suffered from a few similar bites with unregulated thickness. Minor but noticable issue. Pic is of little use.
I really enjoyed it, the total was $25 with tax(drank water). I hope they will make it. Was plenty crowded when we left!!
Reminder, this is the 4th day of operation. Don't go expecting the place to run like Commander's Palace.

I wanted to try the lamb meatball pizza and the roasted chicken penne. I couldn't go eat there and they said they were too busy to do to go orders.

Crawtators come with the sandwich.

I wanted to go back this week but after hearing how busy they are I've decided to wait. I must get more of that fettuccini. Glad they are busy, was afraid Harahan wouldnt have the customer base for that style pizza.
You would never know the place was an old Popeyes. Looks like new place on Feret.

Greasy pizza, thick bread, chips with sandwich. Would not eat.
ETA: Just kidding. I'd destroy all of that

I was going to post something like this just because it is required every time someone posts a picture of a meal.
I do feel like I am getting ripped off when I am given chips with a sandwich.
I hate getting a side I can get from a vending machine or a gas station.

Pizza looks underdone to me. Wonder if they'll honor a request to let it get brown and show some actual char.

you cant even see the bottom though

It's a $9 lunch sandwich from a place that makes everything from scratch in house and only uses fresh ingredients from small local farms. I'll take that over a subway are fast food value meal any day.
Wayfare serves chips with their sandwhiches as well.

It was slightly. I didn't want to take the arrows from the "snob haters" today. For being open 4 days they are doing fine. I hope they are open to "suggestions". I would be happy to offer some.
Should have taken a crust pic, it had a nice char. Probably could have used another :30 to 1 minute longer.

Sorry it wasn't on the 2 for $20 menu you usually order off.

they could be a little more creative than Zapps then, right?
maybe its just a quick fix since they are so slammed

Really clever. Think of that on your own?
You don't need to get your panties in a wad. I'm not criticizing your lunch. Commenting on the chips is completely separated from the pizza and sandwich.
I'm not impressed with a bag of chips for a side anywhere.

You're correct, they could be more creative. The chips are listed on the menu, not a "quick fix". So what, it's a high quality pizzeria.
They are in Harahan. They don't need a side of polenta, they're the only game in town.

If I were in a smart arse mood, I'd have said something along the lines of the bread looks soggy and I could definitely make something better at home cheaper.
