I don't follow recruiting closely, help me out please

Did we get some guys that we weren't expecting? All i remember is the meltdown after the UA game, so all this happiness is confusing me.
Are there any notable recruits we got that we weren't necessarily expecting/banking on? Or was the UA game meltdown just over the top? It was pretty bad...

Yes, meltdown was over the top. We got two of the top 10 players in the nation that day and people were pissed
Today LSU has landed almost all verbal commits plus some great pickups and possibly more to come.

Meltdown was over the top.
The late swing by the TX DE was the only "surprise" of this class.
The happiness is centered around the fact that we've landed all of the guys that we were 50-50 about.

No. We got 2 guys we were expecting who are highly regarded (Dupre and Valentine) and two former Texas commitments who were expected to flip to us. That's all great news but not unexpected.
We lost one in-state player who was coveted (kenny young), but he was expected to go out of state since LSU focused on the nation's best linebacker earlier in the season (and he signed with us).
If Adoree signs, that would be the first unexpected thing.

For me the Dupre and Valentine commits/LOI were HUGE. Maybe didn't surprise some on here, but definitely big. Both prototype players and Valentine fills a need and competes for playing time/adds depth early to our Dline.
