Help me out OB - I need a new phone. Debating on android v apple; I know apple a bit as my kid has one. Want a durable phone that I can get GPS apps, ESPN, web, TD (of course), email, music playlists, etc. I am tired of a 5 hr battery life on BB so it would be nice to have a battery last all day. My office is migrating away from BB (yeah) and I will use a VPN to access work email, from what I am told BB is pretty much ra..ing us on server fees. Also will access gmail for perssonal email - so help a brutha out and reccomend a brand and OS. One other item is I would like recommendations on a good case as well for the phone - water restistant is a plus. Dont worry about a phone provider I have a good provider w/ a 6GB/mo data plan

Thx

Galaxy S4 or wait for the S5.

I was a faithful apple user but switched a year or do ago and never looked back.

I have the Note 3. Lasts 15-17 hours every day with heavy use. I can't even look at the tiny Iphone screens anymore. Also, the camera is simply stunning, it will blow your mind. Everything works well on it in terms of services (all of the ones you mentioned; email etc.) Google play has a good music cloud service. Case wise, I use the Spigen Neo-Hybrid. It is shock-proof (yes, I tested it by dropping it face down on concrete and the screen didn't have a single scratch or crack.) Not water-proof though.

Exact same here. I know there are a lot of people that hate on Apple just because I guess it's the cool thing to do but they work and they work well.

Not saying that any Android phones don't but I'm on my 3rd iPhone without any problems whatsoever. Wife has had 3 as well. My MIL has my old iPhone 4 and still no issues with it still and it's more than 5 yrs old.

If you go Samsung get the s4 active as it's waterproof already. Then just get a slim case to protect from dropping. I made the switch to android and it is way better.

I have had several iphones, a Note 1 and Note 2, and now have a LG Optimus or something like that. ITs the same size as the Note. LG hasn't given me any real problems, but I think I prefer the Samsung phones a little more, in terms of quirky things they do. The iphone is for teenage girls and old people. Sorry guys.

The satellite maps and LSU baseball game streaming alone, makes the Note or something comparable almost a given. And they aren't that bulky once you get used to them

I heard the S4 active is a hunk of shite. Whether it actually is or not I don't know, but I do know it's wayyyyyyyyyy too big.

I had an iphone with a lifeproof for a year a while back. The case was falling apart but the phone looked brand new and worked like new. Next one will be another iphone.

I like the bigger screen and it seems thinner and lighter than my old iPhone.

This is not a shot but if you don't have small hands size of the phone shouldn't be an issue

It drops calls and quits working all the time. I have to turn it off and turn it back on about every other day. When it comes back on I get a whole day's worth of text messages at once. Quits working all the time. I had one of the older ones and it did the same thing. Don't get one.

Only good thing is the battery lasts about a week and sometimes more.
