Spooling Braided Line?

OB, I like to do things one time. Please help me out here so Im not wasting time and money.
I have a Curado on a 7'3 H/XF that needs to be re-spooled. This is used for frogging, jigs and the occasional big swimbait. I am not the original owner of this setup.
I picked up some 65# Power Pro Super Slick last night.
My 2 questions are on the backing and the leader..
-Do you use the "tape the spool" backing or run some mono backing?
- Do you use a fluorocarbon leader? I am looking at using 40# fluoro leader material.
---I bought the 150yd line, how far (or not) is 150 yards going to get me?

I only use braid. And I don't put any backing or tape. Just knot it around spool and reel up

That, when I'm ising braid

I use mono backing. Tie mono to braid. No flour leader. If I'm pitching or punching. I don't put more than 50 yards of braid on the reel. If its for a frog I'll put 75 yards or so on. I don't plan on breaking off with it so I don't need too much. Once it gets old, spool it on from one reel to another, that way the portion that never gets used is now the end of the line you tie your baits on to. You'll get twice as much use out if it.

I never use anything for backing, you do need a bit of mono for a leader, braid has no stretch.

What size mono for the backing, how much, and is there a certain knot you tie?

Bout 1/3 of the spool
20-25 lb
UNI to UNI
20-25 lb
UNI to UNI

Is the 65 for frogging overkill? Should I step it down to 50?

I only use 30# power pro
Salt only though. I hardly ever have breaks

I like 50 for everything.
Any size mono will work for the backing. I just use whatever old stuff I have laying around. My backing stays on for years, it's just there to take up space on the reel. If you've got to buy line for backing, by the cheapest roll of 20-25 lb. mono you can find.

My reels have holes in the spool so slipping ca not happen. Still, I back with old mono I would not otherwise use just to avoid waste.
if you you a leader, watch it on your hook sets. Ease into the fish or you'll have some shock breaks.

I use Daiwa Samurai braid but doesn't matter, pre spool with any kind of mono then splice into it with a uni to uni knot, you only need 75 yards or so of line but cover the knot well. On frogs tie directly to the frogs with a palomar, no leader. On stuff where you want a leader use 17-20 lb fluorocarbon or (20 mono if it is a top water bait) as the knot on 40lb. will be so large it will drive you crazy going through the guides. I use a double surgeon knot for leaders as I think it is stronger and smaller. A 150 yard spool should last a long time. I fish a lot and I know this setup.

Mono backing with 60 pound or larger braid.

How does this sound.
50# braid
20# mono backing
20# leader (The spot I do 99% of my fishing is crystal clear. I would also rather cut and re-tie leader instead of the braid.)

PP, forgive my jackass nature but why in the holy frick would you put 65# braid on a curado?
I haven't read thru the rest of the posts but surely someone has pointed this out.
If you're gonna use that braid, go with about 4 foot of top shot. Go with mono (makes a better uni with braid than fluori). Go 20lb at the most.

I had problems in the past with braid slipping on the spool early on when I wasn't using backing. I still don't use backing, but I put a little super glue now on my knot and the line right around my knot. No slipping since doing this.

If it's crystal clear a 20# leader may be more visible to the fish than a 12 or 15# line.

I use mono backing, and i definitely second the notion of rereeling the braid backward to use the back end of the braided line once the front end gets all frayed and faded. Use uni-uni to tie together. Be careful with 50 or 65lb braid on smaller rods because you can break the rod if you're too heavy handed with them. As far as size of mono I would use whatever you have handy. Not more than 20 lb because the uni-uni is gonna get wonky if the mono is too big vs the braid. I used all 150 yds but you could prob do with 100 or maybe 75. 50 seems a little short to me but I've never done it do idk.
