I have him behind Hendrix, Clapton, EVH, and Stevie Vai.

EVH, and Stevie Vai.
I think he´s on par with these two, better in many ways (he´s soulful).

I´d throw a lot more in, before all of them, and immediately after the first two.

Just my opinion.

ETA I still don´t get how people on this board aren´t cognizant of the greatness of Mick Ronson. Absolutely blows my mind.

This is what sets him apart from EVH and others of that generation. I have seen Carlos in person and he is right up there with SRV and Clapton.

Santana is way better than Clapton, IMO.
But I think Clapton is very overrated.

Without thinking about it too hard I'd probably place him towards the bottom of my top ten or just outside of it

Cotton, I´d imagine you´re referring to Mick Ronson. I also, don´t put him in top five, but there is no cognizance of this dude, and his importance in rock and roll history, let alone his prowess as a guitarist. I´ve alluded to it many a time over the years, and nothing in response.

The guy was massive in terms of forming sound.

Also, a lot of people here are Johnny Marr freaks, and Marr´s idol is or was, Ronson.

He sounds great with Chad Kroeger.

I was referring to Santana

But Ronson, from what little I know of him, is grossly underrated.

I have him ahead of Clapton, I prefer Santana's sound. Of course I have Hendrix first

Maybe not direct Ronson praise but Bowie albums from that era get a lot of love

I'm sure he is an excellent guitarist, but his music sends me into blind fits of rage.... Behind the RHCPs and slightly ahead of Clapton...
