The KISS solo albums (by the 4 original members)

I have 3 of the 4 on vinyl (missing Paul Stanley).
I was not impressed with Criss and Simmons, but did find Frehly's to be pretty good. Anyone remember/possess these?

Ace's was the only one worth a damn. That fact got under Gene's and Paul's skin a good bit.

ace's album by a mile. not only is it stronger musically, it also blows away the other 3 from a sonic standpoint. paul's is pretty good, but sounds a little tinny to me. peter's has a couple of good tracks, but is mostly forgettable overall. gene's is an ambitious clusterfrick, and is mildly entertaining for all the wrong reasons...

I have/had all four of them (can't seem to find them, though).
I played the shite out of Ace Frehley's. It was leaps and bounds better than the others. There were more good songs on Ace's than could be found on all three of the others combined. "Snow Blind", "Back in the New York Groove", "Speedin' Back to My Baby", "Ozone", and "Rip it Out".
I seem to remember liking Peter Criss' album 2nd best, mainly due to his cover of "Tossin' and Turnin", which I had no idea was a cover of a classic (I was 10 years old). I could have sworn he also did "Splish Splash", but I guess not.
I remember nothing about Paul Stanley's album. Nothing.
Gene Simmons' effort was not bad, as I recall. A couple of memorable tracks, of which "Radioactive" is the most memorable for me.

I had them as a kid and treasured them more than anything... in fact every Kiss record.
I eventually traded them to the older dude in the neighborhood for booze, one by one, over the years...
It would foreshadow a life of booze, regret and shame...

Ace's was great. I'm pretty sure most people owned that one. I had Gene's but he tended to be a bit more adventuresome and tried different things with his. Ace stayed within his capabilities but Gene went out there with When you wish upon a star and has several guest artist sing and play on his. I liked radioactive and man of a 1,000 faces.
Oh and living in sin at the Holiday Inn.
I cannot comment on Peter's or Paul's bc I never owned them.

Paul and Ace both had good solo albums. Not sure where Gene was trying to go musically but it was a piece of crap. Peter was just boring and nonchalant.

Also works for "Gene" in general.

"Fractured Mirror" -- an instrumental, but a great one on Ace's, nonetheless.
I wonder if any other band will attempt this again?

i doubt it. so many copies ended up in cut-out bins, the solo albums inspired the old industry joke, "they shipped gold, and returned platinum"

I had Gene's and it was okay. Radioactive was the best track. My cousin had Ace's and it was much better. Of all the members I got the sense that Ace cared more about the music than the show.
