Has anybody else just wrote this season off? My off weekends the rest of the month are pretty much packed with family stuff. And my days during the week off i get tired of going out and killing time when I could be doing other things.. I'll prolly just switch hunting mode off and switch to golf and fishing mode.

I know...
But my lease has been shitty all year and sometimes you just gotta know when to fold your hand.
I'm a hardcore duck hunter but with the season I've had (killed 6 including teal season and made at least 25 hunts) you gotta know it just wasn't your time.
( I've hunted Monroe, Yancy, the Wax, my lease)

I'd rather spend my off days going to help train my dog at his trainer and finishing up the nursery -baby due in march.

I'll probably make a few more hunts, but I'm pretty much done. We've got birds so I guess I'll go Sunday. It's time to start bass fishing.

Some of my friends in NELA have been slaying the ducks.

One of them also stumbled across a 150 class buck while scouting for ducks........he dropped him.

I'm gonna give it a few more chances but this is far my worst year ever. But a nice sunrise in the blind is better than honey dos

Unless I just start slaying geese, yeah I'm writing it off.

You are paying for a lease, and having to hunt private land.... Combined have killed 6 ducks on 25 hunts?

this.

i would say if you are going to hunt public you need to put some more days in scouting and less in hunting. if ducks aren't in area at all, make some longer drives and you can scout the morning and hunt the afternoon (obviously this requires either state land or the coastal WMAs since most WMAs are shut after 2PM). use ducksunlimited and other forums to look for reports. learn new areas. im still a novice hunter but i know the first rule of duck hunting: go where the ducks are.

I've been hunting ducks hard for about 8 yrs now... It just seems my off days have coincided with bad weather. I know that rule it's just being in BR, there isn't many good places to go near by without a boat. I've put in the time last few years on the wax scouting but it's hard to borrow boats when other people are using them.

But I do appreciate the advice

Saw more gray ducks yesterday than ive seen in 5 years. Hundreds and hundreds of them. Saw one flock alone with 200 in it. All new ducks east of the river.
