Anyone have thoughts on possibly rumminging up some cards for CC points toward a honeymoon?

As of now I have enough SW points to fly international so that will save me $1K but wasn't sure if anyone has had any experience flying to some island using rewards

Couple pages in front of this discusses Bora Bora.

Have to narrow down what island you're interested in as different cards/alliances go different places.

Same here. I'm booked on vacations for almost 18 months out. My next apps will likely just be taking advantage of a couple good offers.

How do you have time for all that?

At my peak I was doing maybe 2K a month

Yep. I learned to make it easier on myself, but it still sucked. In a 2-3 mile radius from my office, I have a Wally World, Family Dollar and a CVS. I just used a couple days/week to run my errands at lunch. You need two serve cards.

I won't do that again, but I "needed" a few cards to make a 2 week European trip, and with one round of apps between my wife and I, I paid for 16 days in France/Switzerland/Spain flying first and business class for $600-$800. The end result makes it worth my time even if it was a PITA.

I am so lucky that I can just dump the minimum spend into business purchases. It allows me to take on 5-6 new cards at once without thinking about it.

I put a lot personally on cards every month but it would make me pause on some applications if I had to dump all of the spend on personal stuff.

Which sites do you guys use to find out which cards are offering what?

I am currently using Nerdwallet. Is there a better alternative?

I have a another question about annual fees. The AF is waived for the first year, but not for the second year obviously. When does the AF usually hit? at the start of the second year or at the end of the second year?

Annual fees are due on the anniversary date AFAIK. So, at the beginning of the second year.

You are lucky.
I have about 2-4k/month of business expenses that I get to utilize as well. It would be real nice if I could use credit on all my expenses without hassle.

I've still got about $7k worth of gift cards that I will pay car notes, some business expenses and cash out where I can over the coming months.

This game is not recommended for everybody. It can get pretty hectic if you get after it.

This last round of apps really was too much for me. I actually ended up at about $25k/spend.

Really appreciated the USAir card this go around. 100k miles(2 cards)/$180 and done. Hell, actually 150k points, I got another 50k points just for recommending the card to people.

Yep. It's usually on the first statement after your anniversary date.

Until I look at the Business Platinum card and see what is due next week.

I don't like owing.

ETA - No longer available.

Anyone have an American Airlines flight this month? I have a single SWU left that I'm not going to use, and they've gotten strict about not applying them to flights post expiration - which has caught me off guard. I know we have some fellow frequent flyer geeks here, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

It's not too late. E-mail me your AA record locator at justinti.lsu@gmail.com and I'll see if space is available to make it happen.

Ok - need help....

....was with the Marriott card for a good while - was traveling a good bit and was able to pick Marriott related hotels - have a ton of points.

Now, not traveling near as much and won't be utilizing the brand hotel rewards as I did in the last.

When I travel it is regional so no big time flight time.

I want a card that gets me the best upgrades, no wait lines, etc at hotels...my main overnight is Jackson, New Orelans, dallas and Austin.
