2nd time in 3 seasons I'm sending it back to get it worked on. First experience gun was jamming frequently; replaced the chamber. This season the chamber was sticking when putting the 1st shell in the side load chamber. Anyone else having trouble with this new VersaPort feature?

That gun came off the line with recalls, you are not alone. Chalk it up and get a "B" gun..

I know a few guys that shoot them and like them (one guy has 10K+ rds thru his between skeet/clays and hunting). No issue that I know of – the only thing I have seen is the bolt handle can come loose, fall off and they are hard to find (I lost a cpl w/ 1187s I had too). But as others have said get a B gun (preferably a WOP B gun IMO) – I sold my 1187s a cpl of years back and don’t missem at all

I've got a versamax that I've put through hell and it's jammed one time in 2 years. It was dirty shooting cheap dove loads when it did. I'd say your gun is an exception not the rule.

I know of three guys with them, four counting whackstack. Two of them put over two cases of shells through them per season and neither have had any problems. They clean them twice a year, in the split and at the end of the season.

One of the best hunts of my life was last year. Killed 42 birds by 9. One of my buddy's "B" gun broke. Extractor claw came off around 7. He had to watch us tear em up. No worries though, I helped him fill his limit with my versamax.

ETA: added pic, 38 birds in the pic one guy had to leave early.

All guns will have issues at some point, find one you like and stay with it. I happen to like Benellis
