We have a two car garage, and are starting to need more storage space. Currently its just an empty garage that holds the lawn mower and other lawn equipment - nothing else is in there but with both cars, space is a little limited.

I have seen several different ways to add shelving and storage, but I can't decide on what is the best way. Suggestions on what works the best or what you have done to yours?

Musts:
- I want nothing sitting on the ground - would rather build into walls vs buying metal shelving stacks
- Don't want to spend TOO much since this won't be our permanent home
- I have re-sell value in the back of my mind always
- I want it to still look nice

If there was a similar thread recently on this topic can someone direct me to it? I searched but I suck at searching. TIA

I looked it up - at Home Depot it says 250 lbs. I can't imagine we would need to store stuff that weighs more than that. We just have such limited attic space, so this is actually a good substitute.

I'd love to get creative with it though. I also want to add some dog pads/area for when there is inclement weather.

Make your shelfs out of PVC pipe and add storage bins. I made mine just like the ones in the pic.

To get stuff in and out you just nimbly climb up a ladder? I can see this failing on my part... good thing I have a tall SO.

It would be good for winter stuff though, where we won't need access often(snowboards/clothes/blankets)

i can barey get my ice chests out by reaching up and dragging them off the edge... you wouldn't need anything more than a step stool

Look at my link. It's similar but you can raise and lower the shelves

Shelving from HD or Lowes would be cheaper than buying 2x4s and building your own maybe. Unlimited options available.

But...but the other option is so much cheaper

Very fancy though - it is something I would do in the next house when we build.

I can't risk having something fall on my classic whip I have parked in my garage.

However I do need some shelves in there.

You can find them cheaper than that listed. Not sure how much you want to spend.

You could always take them with you as well.

You need Gladiator Garage Works.

You can take everything with you when you move, even the tracks.
(I would leave them)

I actually have some of that in both of my garages. My biggest issue with it is that it is getting hard to find the hooks, and shelves.

Ordering direct from them works the best.
