Guys I know it's a good chance we lose Collins and Turner, but chill we have no idea how good these younger guys are. Quit assuming there's going to be a big drop off. Vadal Alexander, Hawkins, and Turner were big surprises as redshirt freshman when they stepped in to start. We have Brumfield who tore it up at the Under Armour game, Clapp and possibly Kelly who are great recruits. Pocic who got meaningful snaps, Fehoko who is a mauler like turner he just needed technique and conditioning. Also Malone and Andy Dodd. These guys were getting stronger and learning this whole season . Add all that with the leadership of Alexander, Porter, and Hawkins. The line next year will be fine

Btw. Fournette, Magee, Hilliard, Williams I'm pretty sure these guys only need a small gap to break a long run and lets not forget Neighbors who actually played better than Copeland this year

So, you want everyone to chill out and relax because we have no clue how good the guys behind them are?

Having concerns that there will be a drop off does not mean you are assuming there will be. There is a difference.

Sweet - thanks for clearing that up. I know I'll sleep better knowing that Tiger Pride said things are all swell down on the bayou.

"We'll be Fine" has become the classic and definitive Sunshine Pumper motto.

The LSU OL will not get much better until Miles bites the bullet, finds another job for his BBQ buddy and hires a legit OL coach that can teach technique.

Recruiting an SEC Calibur Center would help as well. Pocic has the talent, but is too tall to be a Center. What about Dodd if he can ever get past the shoulder injury? Porter never has been and never will be the answer. OL starts and ends with the Center making the calls and LSU is woefully lacking there.

Maybe they should hire you since you're such an expert on the subject.

Who are the Left and Right Tackles?
Hawkins and Pocic? Someone else? Washington, Edinburgh, Austin, Boutte, etc

Who's at right guard?
Austin, Boutte? Dodd, Fanakia, etc

you realize he's only played center in games since he's been here, right? his height didn't seem to bother either QB in the Arky game. (and yes, I know common speculation is that he'll move, but he's still been a center this yr)

The kid is a beast, just don't see him beating out Hawk, Pocic, Washington, etc

Washington really played well when given PT. He and Pocic are quality SEC players.

yet, so true. truth>fatigued.

you experts need to send your resume's to the athletic dept for their consideration. halfa' mill ain't exactly chump change.

by the way, Studs (in 7yrs) has helped to produce 6 All SEC olinemen, 2 first team AA and one second team AA. his lines have helped to produce 3 1,000yd rushers and Hill, this yr, makes it four. he accomplished this with having to take on the dual role as OC when Krags got sick and with the injury disaster that was last year. so if any of you coaches in waiting think you or somebody else can do better, just step the frick up to the plate and put your dumb asses on the line. just sayn'.

the ideal scenario at this point would be that Porter and Collins both returned to school, obviously.

Collins would move inside to LG where he was one of the five best in the country as a sophomore.

Pocic at LT; Collins at LG, Porter at C; Vadal Alexander at RG; and Jerald Hawkins at RT.

I think people are more concerned with the fact that we are potentially losing a ton of underclassman again. That is a major issue. Kids leaving early to go pro when their likely not even a top 3 round draft pick is pretty shitty.

Porter didn't have a great year...inho...I know LM is not going to replace him, but something needs to chance...we're going to primarily be a running team to start the year...the Samoan would be my RG and I'd see if Turner or Boutte could possibly play center if Pocic doesn't develop...but that's just me...Washington has done well when given a chance...I'd try out several combos and get it done...coach Phil at your service...lol

Turner may be hard to replace. He was a mauler. Wasn't sold on Collins, but wish both would have stayed. WE have developed good depth on the o-line finally, so think we will be fine. Wish we could have added a couple more in this class beside Brumfield and Clapp, but at least we added two very talented ones.

No it will not be that simple. They could be fine, but it's major unknown. You cannot simply insert a couple of new guys into an OL and expects everything to be the same. Comparing to other positions, OLine particularly requires a good chemistry to perform well and developing that chemistry takes TIME! It's not just about the talent level of the next guy up. Having a stable OLine that works together and knows each other for a long time matters more than a lot of people think.
