Bands give you a lot of versatility, imo. They can do so many exercises. They are great. It's like having an entire gym in your bag.

One great advantage of bands is that you can do isometric holds which you can't do with free weights because it's potentially dangerous.

In fact, what band do you recommend?

you are asking the WRONG person. Like I said someone a while back posted an amazon link to a set of BlackMountainProducts bands and I have no complaints about those really, but I also don't have a point of comparison. It comes with 5 bands, handles/clips (so you can attach multiple bands at once to the handles) and a door thingy that you can put in between the hinge to do row-like exercises. It was like $30.

I will say the only SMALL complaint is that when you're doing an exercise like Y Press or deep swimmers press, the nylon part of the handle can scrape up against your wrist which is slightly uncomfortable. But I'm pretty sure you'd get that issue with any band you use.

I have these

These are very similar to the Black Mountain ones that Dawg was talking about. They've been great for me, but I imagine you can't really go wrong with either set to be honest.

Got another question. On hammer curls or bicep curls with the bands, do you get any added benefit (muscle building wise) by doing them slow as opposed to "normally", or even going up normal and going down slow?

When I go on the down motion slowly it's definitley more difficult, but I have no idea if it's actually beneficial or not.

Speaking of hurting, anyone feel permanently sore somewhere? I've never really done something like this and since the beginning of p90x3 my hamstrings in particular have been sore or tight. My triceps to a lesser extent but damn my hamstrings quiver getting out the car nearly every day. It hasn't been bad enough to affect the workouts that much and it's almost become a welcome friend reminding me that I'm making progress; but I wonder if it's bad they have never fully recovered.

It's okay to be tight, but I hope it's not hurting a lot.

Get a foam roller and see if that helps.

I have pain in a particular area and I should go to the doc, but I haven't yet.

No it's not hurting it's just tight and sometimes little tender. By the way I just want to give everyone in this thread a shout out of thanks, particularly you, it's been nice having the feedback from everybody in this thread to help me along.

Today was the challenge, for the first time in a month. The progress I've made...well it just keeps me that much more pumped up for the last 4.5 weeks. The first few times I did this I could barely do any real military push-ups. I hit my goal (which is the same goal I've had since the first challenge day) on both rounds tonight. And to make it that much better my older brother was in town and decided to join me. I've always been the "big" brother because I was a fat shite. He was on his knees doing girl push-ups at the second round of standard . Made it all that much better

as far as the beat bands, i have used a few different ones of Amazon and then the other day i tried the elitefts ones, the elite blow all the others i have used away. They just feel alot sturdier and that they can handle anything i throw at them. But they are way more expensive.

Sabi, sorry we couldn't work out a deal dude. When you do get ready to start buying equipment email me or text me and i can tell you what brands are good and n which are shite.
