BAR vs X-Bolt/A-Bolt

Looking at either a .270wsm or a .300 win mag. Scratch everything ever said, but anyone have any real experience with the difference in accuracy with these newer guns; more specifically between the BAR and either the X-Bolt or A-Bolt? Have been using a Belgium BAR in .270 and have no complaints.

If you have no complaints with the bar, why even ask?? Both the xbolt and abolt are reliable and accurate. Never shot the bar but according to you it's a good gun. Can't go wrong either way.

I've shot my Dad's X-Bolt in .25-06 and its a great gun, he doesn't use anything else. I don't know about any difference in accuracy. Being comfortable with the gun will probably makes more difference in accuracy in the end. If you use a BAR stick with it.

Tikka > XBolt > ABolt > BAR as far as accuracy is concerned. BAR is head and shoulders above the others for just being plain ol cool guns. Personally I will never own another ABolt. I do not like the stocks on them or their actions either one. The XBolt handles way better to me personally. With that being said I'd pick Tikka over any Browning bolt gun

Your shoulder do something to piss ya off or something? Or are ya just a glutton for punishment?
Personally I will not own a .300mag. Too many better calibers suited for where I hunt(350yd shots or less) I did own a .270wsm for about 2 weeks.I quickly traded it again for a Tikka in 7mm-08. That .270wsm had a punch to her and I'm not recoil sensitive at all. But I see no sense in shooting something that kicks that much when I can knock them just as dead with a .25-06 or 7mm-08

You really can't go wrong with anything you've listed. I encourage you to look at the FN FNAR and some of the nicer remington 700s available in the calibers you've listed. Just to be aware of what's out there.

Holy shite. This is bold.
I've never shot a tikka, but I'm gonna have to check em out after all the Tikka love on this board. But I have shot a LOT of brownings. I have found all of them to shoot exceptionally well right out of the box.

no crap? i thought the "wsm's" were supposed to take the edge off the recoil.

Not sure if serious. But if you are no.

They seem to make a few different models of the 700 and I'm not too knowledgeable of them. What model would be their top of the line? I'm not looking for a wood stock, something in black synthetic.

You are a crazy person. Tikkas are good guns, no doubt, but they are not on the same level as the Brownings.

300wsm recoil does not equal 300winny recoil by any stretch. The 270 wsm is less then the 300 wsm and the 300 wsm is a cupcake in the realm of magnum recoil.

Got some surplus tracers for that old BAR of Slayton's as soon as it gets dark we're gonna have us a time

I just got a X bolt (.308) and love it! Not a lot of shots through it but seems pretty dang accurate to me. Took all of about 3 shots to site it in at 100 yds after dealer bore sighted it
Never shot any of the other mentioned so can't offer any diff opinions, just that I really like mine.

The only thing I don't like about the a bolt is you have to take the gun off of safety to work the bolt.
If the gun were for me....I'd get a 300win BAR with BOSS

I have a BAR Safari in 7mm mag with a boss. Love that gun. very accurate. Recoil isn't bad at all due to the BOSS. However it is loud a shite.

A Bolt
The X Bolt has a three way tang safety
I have the X Bolt in 270WSM

That's what I said, a bolt.

I love Brownings, have an Abolt, several shotguns and have the upmost respect for John Browning, but I have 2 tikka rifles and the Tikkas are a much better rifle
