The Cleveland Cavaliers are actively shopping second-year shooting guard Dion Waiters, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Three teams the Cavaliers are known to have spoken with are the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers, the sources said. The Cavs' targets are Iman Shumpert in New York, Evan Turner in Philadelphia and Luol Deng in Chicago, sources said.

Sources described the following account:

Irving called the meeting after the game, and every player spoke. When Waiters was given the floor, he criticized Thompson and Irving, accusing them of playing "buddy ball'' and often refusing to pass to him. Thompson took umbrage with Waiters' words and went back at him verbally. The two confronted each other, but teammates intervened before it could escalate into a fight.

However, Waiters and Irving are not close. Waiters believes the Cavaliers have a double standard when it comes to Irving, sources said. Waiters feels that while Irving is allowed to get away with loafing defensively, making turnovers and taking bad shots, he is taken out of games for such things. Waiters has shared his views with Brown and Grant.

Waiters is slumping after a promising rookie season -- both his scoring and shooting percentage are down.

Interesting...

Since Rose is done for the year, frankly I wouldn't mind this. Butler is more of a 3 than a 2 anyways.

I'm not sure why the Knicks would want Waiters for Shumpert though...

fine with me. I never really liked Waiters, he's a ball hog and can't shoot for shite.

I would love Evan Turner for Waiters.

seems like a logical upgrade for los toros. gotta get rid of deng before he gets too old and his value plummets

I think he has a point about Kyrie Irving. People rave about him and label him a top 10 player in the NBA, but the Cavs consistently lose. There must be a reason for that.

The Cavs front office still sucks. This just shows how awful not taking Oladipo was. If LeBron goes back to that hell hole, he's a masochist.

Waiters is one of the most inefficient players in the league. He is like a starving man's version of Rudy Gay, in that analytics guys would hate him if he was a bigger name. I don't see how the Cavs will get the types of guys they want in return, even if they are on expiring deals.

Waiters in NOLA so the Pelicans can run the innovative 5 SG lineup.

You don't punch the young star in the face. Waiters has a point about Kyrie.

They should trade him the Jazz for Hayward.

yeah but he needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Kyrie is awesome, but he doesn't pass.

I actually completely agree with Waiters. Kyrie looks like he just doesn't give a frick half the time this year.
