1 part Lime juice
1 part tequilla
1 part Grand Marnier
Ice

Any suggestions to tweak this? How about some other homemade margarita recipes?

The smell of tequila makes me gag. Bad experience.

This plus one more part tequila. The OJ makes the extra tequila perfect.

I do:

2 parts tequilla
1 part lime juice
1/2-3/4 part agave nectar (though for the wife I make it almost 1:1 with lime)

I don't see why you couldn't hit it with a splash of Grand Marnier though. The recipe I have came from Tommy's in San Francisco. LINK

That sounds pretty good, but I prefer to go heavier on the tequila to lime juice ratio and use less of the Grand Marnier or Cointreau (I prefer Cointreau) My recipe:

3 parts silver tequila
2 parts fresh squeezed lime juice
1 part Cointreau
over ice

1.5 ounces each of tequila, lime juice, and agave nectar. 1/2 ounce of Grand Marnier

Salt the rim of a rocks glass, fill with ice. Shake all ingredients over ice in a shaker and then pour over ice.

I use this simple recipe and it rocks.

3 oz of tequila (quervo gold or other)
3 oz of HEB lime juice/margmix
1.5 oz of Grand Marnier

Pour into stainless steele shaker with ice and shake furiously.

pour into glass over ice. (salt the rim if you like)

Use Jimmy's

quote:

Jimmy Buffett's Perfect Margarita
INGREDIENTS

Crushed ice
3 wedges lime
2 ounces gold tequila (Cuervo 1800)
1/2 ounce tequila (Cuervo white)
1 1/4 ounces Rose's Lime Juice
1/2 ounce triple sec (Bols)
1 splash orange Curacao (Bols)

METHOD

1. Put all ingredients except the 3 lime wedges into a shaker. Squeeze 2 of the lime wedges into the shaker. SHAKE WELL! Rim outside of glass only with lime. Salt only the outside of the glass. Add fresh crushed ice to glass. Strain mixture over ice. Squeeze remaining lime wedge in glass.

I would use Triple Sec in place of Grand Mariner.

Grand Marnier or Cointreau are necessary to a top shelf marg for me. You make just about any marg taste great with those ingredients.

Im not generally a fan of margs, but holy shite, Tommy's is legit. We did the tequila tasting and those margs were some of the best alcoholic drinks I have ever consumed

Yea it's like a really good tequilla sour. I've bellied up to that bar before and had an Anejo in a brandy snifter, a house marg on the rocks, and a Negro Modelo all sitting in front of me. Holy crap that place will stack a buzz on you. All perfect to stroll down to the coast at the bath house ruins and walk over to Land's End point.
