Long time lurker here, did a search and came up with nothing really related... Looking to buy a 20' shipping container to build out as a camp. Need some pointers, links, etc.

Can't be that expensive to outfit a 20x8x8 container though...

I am interested in this too.

[link=(www.lacontainersales.com)]La Container Sales[/link]

Check that link out.

I saw thousands of them in Houston, and were hearing prices of 2k-6k (depending on new or used).

My problem is the freight to Arkansas

Solid username BTW.

before the prepping craze you could buy a decent 20' can for under $1500... I have no idea what they are running for now. If you have access to a stud welder or MIG/TIG it'd be pretty straight forward to get it done. If you buy used check the floor for rot, and exterior for rust especially the top and corners.

If you get a refrigerated one you don't have to insulate but will need to be cautious when cutting.

I've been in a reefer in mid summer in Nola, was not too bad inside compared to the all steel.

our oilfield company bought one (steel) a couple of years ago from some place in memphis for around 1500. only problem if you buy one from some place further out is the trucking and unloading cost.

I've got a buddy who is currently in the process of building a home out of shipping containers in New Orleans. Pretty cool stuff

It's off Green St, I'm pretty sure it's in the ghetto because he got the lot for super cheap. He's already been getting offers on it and it's not even finished yet. He's been doing most of the work himself
