Welp, there goes the grass...and with the grass goes the cover for raising fish, so there goes the bass.

Grass carp screwed the bass in our pond up pretty bad.

Makes for good bow fishing taking them out though.

They should've talked to the fishermen from Caney Lake before they did this

Also on False River. Killed that lake once they killed the carp and grass beds.

it seems difficult for them(LDWF) to find a happy medium. CLECO Lake was a great bass lake until they put in the grass carp. now it's a mudhole with not a single plant. Spring Bayou has some serious grass problems, but is still a good fishery. It could use some help in many spots, but really needs to keep some grass. Maybe once they achieve the reduction in grass desired they could shock up some of these carp and put them elsewhere?

I was waiting for this response. SB is very different from most mad made impoundments. When it was great, it was not great because of grass. It was great due to the natural fertility of the areas and natural structure.

The grass has not made fishing inconvenient. It has ruined the complex. You can't even get to where I used to fish, much less fish. This was absolutely needed.

That is a lot of shite in that video. Looks like they need the carp pretty bad.

The other places where the carp were detrimental, was it because they ate too much grass? Aren't they supposed to be either sterilized or all male carp?

It still happened. The CLECO problem was not the carp. Yes, they ate all the grass, but that lake was great before hydrilla was ever in it.

well sure. in the original pic those carp are all less than 12". Go to CLECO now and see all the 20#-40# carp swimming around. they eat more as they grow, whether they reproduce or not.

What are you even responding to? Are there hidden posts? This makes zero sense.
