I had an out of town friend grab me a few pumpkinators since I was traveling for work and it goes off shelves so quickly here in Houston.

Well I was driving it back this weekend, and all 3 of the bottles started leaking at the caps. At first, I thought it was just one and I figured it was something we did while transporting them, but when I got home, all 3 were leaking.

The caps are still on and look sealed, but if you turn them upside down, they drip out very slowly. Or if you hold them up to your ear, you can hear them bubbling out.

I'm stumped. Could just driving down the interstate with them have caused this? I've made this same drive with beer on many other occasions and never had a problem. Is it possible that it was a bad batch from the brewery?

You aren't the first to mention leaky pumkinators if I remember correctly.

The beer manager at Spec's on Smith told me that they were having huge quality control issues. He said that he heard a few places had to ship full cases back.

That was my thought as well, but I found it weird that this was the first time I've had the problem.

Any thoughts on how long they will keep? They were warm when I got home last night so I couldn't drink them.

They are all in the fridge right now, and I can probably put down 1 tonight, but not all 3.

i would not drink for 2 years

way too much spice on the batch. let that mess mellow out, and it will be a solid offering for fall 2015

probably open up my 2011 in a few weeks

I originally intended to age them, but can I still do this if they are leaking? I don't want them to spoil

Sorry if it's a dumb question. I don't know the science behind aging beers and if/when they go bad.

should be no more leaking if back at room temp

most people dont have cool space to age beers, but best done at about 55 degrees

Yeah, I'm working on getting a 2nd fridge setup for aging because I have a few things I'd like to be at cooler temps.

I liked that. It was a very nice spice.

They typically use shitty twist-top bottles, so leaking can be an issue

Has anyone in BR had issues with leaking?

I'm hoping this is just a Texas problem.

One of the Pumpkinators I bought had a leaky cap as well. Nothing big but had to drink it that night as opposed to later in the year like I planned.

Would definitely recommend aging one or two. Was real heavy on the spices. I have a 2012 I've been aging that I'm debating on opening for Halloween Thursday or letting it go another year.
