7. Matt Ryan could QB an elite offense with the Saints under Sean Payton. Brees could not orchestrate a top 5 offense under just any coach in the NFL. That is more a comment on Payton's genius than it is a comment on Ryan vs Brees. Brees and Payton may be the best match in the modern era, with only Walsh/Montana in competition.

Then you would be wrong. The Saints had the overall number 3 ranked offense last year with no Sean Payton. They were number 3 in points scored and number 2 in yards.

and the 2004 San Diego Chargers had the third ranked offense in the league under Drew Brees. Pretty sure that Sean Payton wasn't coaching Brees in San Diego.

Not sure if this is unpopular on the grand scale, but I work in sports broadcasting and my coworkers disagree, so...

College basketball is absolutely unwatchable. Choking the life out of the ungodly long shot clock and clanging up a shot after dribbling for 35 seconds is not fun.

And having to learn 100% new players every year since the good ones only have to stay one season before they leave for the NBA... total crap, and really difficult on those in my field. To go in a direction of "what's best for the kids" at least CFB players have to stay 3 years when you could possibly get something out of schooling. CBB players won't get anything from one year at college.

I absolutely think a close field coming down the back 9 at a major on Sunday is the 2nd most exciting situation in sports. Behind a close national championship game in football, but way ahead of the NBA or or MLB.

4-team CFB playoff is good, 6 would be better. Top two get byes, and you give the Boises, etc. a shot just to see what they could do with a couple games against the top dogs. And since they have to win multiple games, they can't fluke their way into revving up for one contest.

I disagree with this one. Last years NBA finals was awesome. To good teams down to the wire. The series was decided by a tipped rebound, it doesn't get any better than that IMO.

16th in the league in passing...are you giving Brees credit for having the best RB in the league at the time?

If the Saints don't recover that onside kick, they get blown out in the second half. Saint fans then would have no bragging rights over the Failcons.

Its not really unpopular to do a what if

But they did recover the kick and they do have bragging rights over the Failcons.

If Wally Pip had never gotten hurt we may have never known about Lou Gehrig. But Wally Pip did get hurt and Lou Gehrig became an iconic hall of famer.

The original poster said "orchestrates a top 5 offense". Brees as the QB was the orchestrator of the Charger's offense. He just so happened to have Tomlinson on that team. You could argue that Brees' passing numbers would have been greater in 2004 if they didn't have a back like LT which would have forced them to rely more on the pass instead of the run. Evidence of this would be the Saints who had have had several years with a terrible running game since Brees has been the QB but have still had top 5 offenses.

So Brees only gets credit if he single-handedly has a top 5 offense? What about receivers? Does Brees get to actually have receivers catch his passes to qualify?

Also, last year, the Saints were in the top 5 without Payton on the sidelines.

You have to admit that as of late this is the exception rather than the rule.

It's the sport that all the overprotective middle-class mommies want their little Courtneys and Jordans to play so they won't get hurt.

Close series don't always happen in the NBA, but as a whole the playoffs have been better the last few years, and I expect them to get better.

I do think a close 7 game series is better than two top players on the back nine of a golf tournament.

Derrick Rose is highly overrated, and his mvp is one of the worst ones in modern nba history.

I don't know about "highly" but he is overrated.

Fair enough...I interpreted it just in terms of passing offense since we're talking about QBs
