Where are they? There are only a million different options online, and I've certainly googled it. Wanted to see if the MT board could point me in the direction of the cheapest flights. Looking to head to Vegas this coming February.

For those who fly often, is there a certain go-to site you use?

I got to travelocity and then go the individual carriers once i see the routes. buying through the carrier seems to be cheaper.

Google released their Google Flights a few months ago. I am not sure if its the best, but I have had the most success using it. If there is something better I would like to know as well.

Remember to clear your cookies each time you visit an airline's website.

Their sites are programmed to detect if you've visited their booking site recently and will increase their prices for the flights you've searched because they know you must be serious about booking on the subsequent visit.

I used it for the first time two weeks ago and saved $120 over my previous low fare. It also automatically revealed savings from flying out of Lafayette instead of Baton Rouge, something I would not ordinarily think to do.

I have literally never noticed this phenomenon while booking, but seen it stated on TD numerous times. It wouldn't surprised me if it existed, but I've never witnessed it.

As for Vegas flights. They are like $200-250 from NO last time I looked. Pretty cheap.

For anything international I check out of IAH/ATL or Dulles, etc. Then book N.O. to that airport separately. Seems to be a lot cheaper that way.

It's also alleged that higher prices are displayed if the customer is accessing the site with a Mac.

Both of these instances have to be illegal right? I mean when does price guaging come into play? Certainly seems unethical imo.

Not exactly. They keep up with the searches overall and that is what makes the price go up. They think they are in high supply when you keep searching for them

Delta got busted charging elites that were logged into their accounts higher fares for the same flight.

I am aware of that but my understanding is that it is no longer happening that way

I go to Bing Travel. It allows you to search multiple airlines and provides a price predictor. In the past you could set up email alerts once a price dropped below your set point.

It's been a year since I researched hotel rooms in Vegas, but I recall on first looking at rooms for $84. I searched the same site later that evening and it was now $99.
