Another Boudin thread - Billy's vs Best Stop

While in the Scott area today I settled on a boudin lunch. Decided to compare Best Stop vs Billy's. So I bought a hot link and an order of boudin balls from each. Best Stop sells their boudin balls 3/$1.50 while Billy's sells theirs for $1.29/each.
First up Best Stop
Now it's time for Billy's
Both of them were excellent. Best Stop has a bit more liver in theirs so it had a slightly richer flavor than Billy's but Billy's was very well balanced. I like liver so in my personal opinion Best Stop wins this battle. As far as boudin balls go I didn't like the heavy breading on Billy's so I have to go with Best Stop for those too. Lastly, Billy's was over $1 a pound higher in price.
You know I've never had bad boudin but today Best Stop won the battle.
Don't even mention Don's in this thread it's not in the same ballpark these 2 are in.

This is solid work.
That's what I like about Billy's. That and a tall, cold 24 oz. beer in a paper sack.

Nice. I really like Best Stop boudin. We have the Best Stop folks and Don both make occasional visits to our hunting camp bearing their various specialty meat products. It's all good to me.
*Mowata Stoe makes the best boudin I've ever had though...

I like them both, but I give Best Stop the edge too. I did get a batch from Best Stop a few weeks back that was overly salted though.

I'd take either of those options right now. One of the things I miss most about Lafayette.

i agree that billy's balls are a little too big
i prefer the balls at best stop
i do like that billy's usually has salted cracklins, and not just the cajun seasoned ones

Three boudin threads on the first page.
This one is the best.
Yes. Yes indeed.

Of course any of these places are great so this is all just personal opinion, but after extensive research, I've determined that I like Billy's over Best Stop for boudin.

It sure would be interesting to do a blind taste test and all these guys that swear one is better than the other I bet couldn't tell the difference between several places.

Ugh, why this thread? The ultimate test of who has the best boudin, the boudin cookoff, is Saturday in downtown Laffy and I'll be out of town

I'm a fan of both. I love the spice of Billy's.

Posted in the BR/Laffy Boudin thread already, but I ALWAYS find Don's & Billy's >> Best Stop. I also don't think ANYONE has a better boudin ball than Billy's !!! But it's all opinion and that's what keeps 'em all open
