I don't mind getting wet in the warmer months but need some rain gear for yak fishing in the winter. I like the light-weightedness of FroggToggs but I know they're considered garbage among the OT. So what do you suggest?

I have a FroggTogg jacket and it does the trick.

Still may purchase a a cold gear rain jacket though.

Meh....

Eta....they have quality snow gear but I've never been impressed by their rain gear.

I honestly wouldn't go too crazy getting cold weather rain gear for yak fishing. I have a non-insulated Columbia titanium shell and pants I use year round. Layer with fleece in the winter. It doesn't get cold enough often enough for dedicated cold weather gear. When it does, it's 30 degrees in the morning and 50 by noon so you'll want to shed layers anyway.

Awesome gear, but definitely overkill. BTW, it's what I own. I also have a good REI coat and at 200$, it's probably overkill.

I'd just get a good raincoat and wear layers underneath.

North Face
Marmot
Mountain Hardwear
Patagonia....look for sales.

Eta....Helly Hansen too, have never used it but the reviews are good. Get a coat with pit zips.

I like Helly Hansen. Nice waterproof shell with a fleece underneath.

You don't need to pay hundreds for good gear.

True, but I have yet to find anything remotely close to their rain jacket, it blows everything out the water.

Their stuff is washable and very solid. Pricey but solid.

Don't have to tell me, it's the shite. It's why I shelled out 700$ for coat/pants, of course it wasn't bought to be used as raingear although I sometimes wear it as such in colder temps. Windproof/waterproof

I have a Simms gore tex rain coat that I love. If it's cold out I'll put a fleece under it. Works amazingly well.

Actually I just use layers. So my rain suit over jackets I already have.
