Ticks is bad arse, although you'll never hear it live again. No love for The Grudge, yet? Great song...

Don't get me wrong...I'm about the biggest Tool fan on here and I love all of their songs.

But gotdamn people, Rosetta Stoned is in another musical dimension. They raised the bar with that song. 10,000 Days is awesome just because of that song.

My comment last night was about the track Lateralus itself. I enjoy the album. I saw that tour twice. Just a solid song.

Have you ever looked deeper into the way the song is constructed and it's meaning? Check out the Fibonacci sequence and the golden spiral. Lot's of lyrical connections in the song.

Agreed on the first one, but not on the second. Lateralus has some great songs, but it's not nearly as complete as Undertow. The fricking radio stations ruined Schism for me with how much they overplayed it. I can't stand that song now. And a couple of the ones at the end of the album just seem like filler.

That said, the absolute, no-contest, best concert I've ever been to was their show at Voodoo Fest not long after Lateralus got released. 90,000 people singing the words to Parabola in harmony is something I'll never forget.

It's really that good, isn't it.

I'm kinda bummed by the fact that it doesn't look like we'll be getting any new stuff from them anytime soon.

Supposedly something in the next year, was actually supposed to be out this year, but you know them. On a side note, Wings 2 is my favorite from 10000.

I hope you're right, but reading between the lines of the interviews Maynard's been giving for the new APC release leads me to believe they're not really working on anything at all and don't appear to have plans to in the near future. It's obvious what MJK and Danny have been doing outside of the band, but what Adam's been up to I have no idea.

The Pot starts off lame and ends with a fricking bang!

At 4:15 in The Pot, the tone drastically changes. Incredible. When I first heard the song, I wasn't that impressed...until minute 4:15 came along. Then the ending was killer.

10,000 Days, the album, is super underrated. I can't take seriously people who vote 10,000 Days Tool's worst album.

Great album.

Personally Aenima is my favorite, but it's probably more to do with the fact that it came out and I was listening to it during some great times in my life when I had little to no responsibilities.

It's in my top 2 of all time.

I am one of the old guys you see at Tool concerts. Undertow came out when I was about 21.

I love them all, and I will never admit to a favorite.

I just really got lost in the Lateralus track that night.

I never saw The Pot live. Has it been done yet?

I like Tool but IMO Aenima is their only "great" album.

The thing about ticks and leeches is Maynard destroyed his voice making the song. I want to say I read that it took him three weeks to recover during the time they recorded Lateralus.

The scream in The Grudge is one of the all time best screams in a hard rock song.

I am anxiously awaiting the new album to see which way they go. It has been hinted that it will be more Lat/Aenima like.

I'm going to borrow your exact words when discussing 10,000 days.

quote:

Listen...if a band that I like puts out an overall shitty album, I'm not going to like that album just because it was created by a band that I have liked in the past.

Overall, the album just isn't that great.

I think over time you'll realize this. Some bands get better with time. Some bands plateau and disappear. Some bands actually succeed at putting out worse and worse material over time because people always hold out hope the next album with be the band's return to greatness.

People start to believe, "Well, if this album is alright, then that means it's a success."

Y'all start to settle for mediocrity.

That is 10,000 Days.
