Just wondering if you people down south know about this southern delicacy I grew up with.

Only if I'm out of gravy.

ETA: Leftover cornbread in my house becomes stuffing, or a pan of dressing. No snacking allowed.

TheZaba is correct. As a child growing up in New Orleans I would travel to New Iberia with my grandmother to visit her sisters. Every morning we had coush coush, which was broken up cornbread in a bowl with warm coffee-milk. I loved it.

I think I talk about cornbread and milk in this post

Depression era cornbread

It is country, not redneck. and certainly not limited to North LA

By the way Miz Gris Gris the photos showed back up just like Magic a few days back.

My dad is from Big Bend and mom from Bordelonville. I ate this growing up. It's pretty good!

So, no it's not a north LA thing. But, Avoyelles parish is in the center of the state.

It's definitely more prominent with the red dirt rednecks than the below I10 crowd.

My Grandfather, Dad, Mom and Brother loved buttermilk and cornbread. I despised it and was grossed out, a texture thing I think. I'm from West Carroll Parish in NE La. To each their own.
