Best Dinner/Tap Rooms in Baton Rouge

My Dads birthday is coming up and he is a big fan of trying new beers, preferably on tap.
Im looking for a restaurant in baton rouge and surrounding area that has lots of beer on tap but is also an upscale eating establishment. I have heard of the Pelican house but im not too sure about whether thats a good place to have dinner, is it not mainly a bar?
Anyone have any ideas?

Pelican House is mainly a bar. Food ranged from relatively crappy to decent, but the beer is top notch.
I would suggest splitting dinner and drinks up.

The OP should realize this combo of upscale/tap rooms is near impossible to find especially in BR. Chimes has both and bulldog has beer and semi good bar type food.

Very true. It's not like there is a Madigan's there.

No such place in BR.
Your best bet would be Chimes, it's at least more of a restaurant than Bulldog, Cove or Pelican House.
Or do Bulldog & Juban's if you want two places relatively close to each other.
ETA: Or Beasoleil and then head down Corporate to Cove or Pelican House.

The Chimes has the best combo of both.
Chelsea's has a decent beer selection and really good food.
The Pelican has the beer, but I don't know about the food (never eaten there).
Londoner has great beer, but the food is just ok.

Pelican house recently got a new chef and their menu has changed quite a bit! Still all geared towards "upscale bar food," but everything i have tried has been delicious! You can also now order at your table both FOOD and drinks! Kudos to them for changing their policies for the better!

This sounds pretty rare in general.
Stroube's has great food and a pretty good beer selection for a restaurant, but not "lots" and it is all bottles IIRC.

About damn time... no clue why they didn't start that from the beginning. Either full table service or no table service... the half table service was just full on retard.

I may have to go this weekend and try it out again

Chimes is only answer.
Masons has decent beer section. Good food.

Go to nola for the evening. There are plenty of restaurants with great food and a selective beer list. May not be a huge list, but interesting.

policies change all the time.. execution, value and consistency don't necessarily follow suit.
