I just got a call for a survey regarding increasing license fee. They asked where did hunting rank in my outdoor activities, what I hunted, how many days I hunted a year, what I killed ect. Then she asked if I was for or against increasing license fees. Have any of you had this type call?

Number of new Mississippian that hunt is dropping to levels that would make PETA proud. The Deer are about to over run parts of the state. Less hunters means higher fees. Phil is right. It is these damn yuppie moms that will not let their kids hunt.

Lower the out of state license fees. I'd hunt Mississippi if the damned license wasn't $500. Me, my dad, and two brothers thought about trying to buy some land in MS to hunt, but that $2k a year in licenses. That's a lot of improvements to your camp.

Unfortunately, it's all about supply side economics. MDWFP is experiencing declining revenues and they have to make it up. They probably need to cut some costs too.

Lease some of the WMA lands. Generates revenue and reduces the amount of wardens needed for patrol.

Slickback, I tried many years ago. Louisiana went up on out of state Fishing license to almost 100 bucks. many of us on Coast fish Chandeleur. Apparently in retaliation in us going up on hunting license. I got a bill to house to raise the hunting fees 10 dollars for every dollar you went up on out Fishing license each and every time. U go up two years later we go up same day 10 fold. I wanted a bidding war to force a resolution for this bullshite. Mississippi wildlife and fisheries ask us to withdraw the bill and they would agree to meet with Louisiana Wildlife and fisheries to work out a compromise. Then they sent a team headed by Corkey Perret and we knew it was complete bullshite. (Guy fired by Louisiana fro something under seal) They came back and said both sides agreed to cool for a while but told us to please lay off as they make tons of Money off Louisiana hunters, (Just like Louisiana makes on our fishing licenses but not near as much )

So you can think me for the fact that damn thing didn't go up for about five years but sorry at least I tried. We really need you coon arse to come kill some of these damn pesky arse deer.

So you have a decreasing # of hunters and decreasing # of new hunter's and the answer is to raise the license fees??
That makes since to me...

As a resident, getting a sportsman's license, WMA pass Fed and state duck stamps, it's already $75 a year.
