You realize Wisconsin ran for over 220 yards right?

You realize Wisconsin lost right? And held below their season avg? And converted less than 50% of their 3rd downs?

Maybe "halt" was the wrong word. But they've played and beaten a team who tried to run the ball 42 times in a game where the offense had 63 possessions...

Bielema shot himself in the foot with crappy offensive play calling. Still glad TCU got the win.

This'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Coach P is gonna throw 7-8 in the box the entire game and force Mett to beat us with his arm. I think the game is going to come down to whether or not our secondary is as good as everyone is saying it is. Verrett is a given, so we'll just have to see if White has stepped up as reported, and if Olabode, Hackett, and Carter are at or improved from the level of play last year.

if so play action and short crossing and slant routs ought to do the trick

This is basically the whole game. Who controls the line of scrimmage, and if TCU can slow down the run with 7-8 in the box, can their secondary cover one on one?

Over. By a long shot.

This team isn't ready for what they're going to see from us. Not even close.

Ok, thanks.

I'd be surprised if any TCU fan shows up here predicting a win. I will be shocked if this isn't a hard-fought game.

Whatever happens during the game, I will be cheering for LSU the rest of the year. Just not on August 31.

At a quick glance at LSU O-line avg size 320 TCU D-line about 250

LSU is going to do what they do and wear down the D-Line and rotate RB to keep them fresh and by the 4th Qrt....Good Luck

Oh yeah and we are supposed to have a passing game this season.

As far as the DB get back to me when you school is called DBU!!

Not worried about our defense, we lost a lot of players but we just reload..you just have not heard of our next crop of future pros yet

Thank you for saying "quick glance". Every DT that we rotate is 300 pounds and all of our DE are at least 250 give or take a couple pounds. That is an average of about 275. Similar to LSU D-line that has big monsters up front of around 300 and DE around 260 with the guys that play the most. In the O-Line vs. D-line comparison, the D-Line will always lose in terms of weight.

I think this will be a hard fought game and I believe LSU run game will wear down the Frogs a little late in the game. TCU has a solid ball club with solid coaching. The line is around 4.5 and Vegas tends to be pretty accurate. I just find it a little funny when some on this site predict scores like 45-10 like we are North Texas or something. I have great amount of respect for LSU program. I go to at least one game in tiger stadium every year. If I were to make a non-biased bet I would bet LSU to cover. I can see this game being 28-20 LSU, but could also see the tigers scoring late to put it out of reach at 35-20. I just wouldn't sleep on this TCU team like most are.

THIS.

I posted a very similar thought earlier in this thread.

What I cannot understand is WHY would we want to denigrate this opponent? To dismiss TCU is counterproductive. What is the value of defeating a "poor" opponent.

I expect TCU to be a good team and for the victory by LSU to be an accomplishment.

We can talk all we want, but it boils down to this...can Mett hit the TEs in stride, lay it out nicely to the RBs, put some air under it to the WRs...if he can do this enough, it will be all over but the shouting. Loosen up the defense with the occasional pass, then run roughshod over them. They probably won't see a tandem of DTs all year again like Freak and Fergie!

So far I've seen predictions of 250 yards rushing and 500 total yards for TCU's offense.

Lol at all of you for thinking these will happen.

LSU will win, probably by around 10 on a late TD/FG, but this will not be a blowout.

So I'll go 2010 Wisconsin. The 4-2-5 did just fine against a rather large O-line, John Clay, and Montee Ball. In fact, it was an o-line with 4 of the 5 still on active NFL rosters. Gabe Carimi, John Moffitt, Peter Konz, Kevin Zeitler, and Josh Oglesby is a top 10 type o-line in the last 5 years (easily).

The players are different, but the scheme is the same and it is clearly capable of bringing a downhill, run-heavy attack to a halt.

I would be shocked if Mett's arm isn't the deciding factor in this one.

Didn't Wisconsin rush for like 200+ yards in that game?

Way over. Without Fields, their DL is suspect. Our mauler OL is going to have a field day getting into the 2nd level with regularity.

I can only pray that will happen, because Mett will have a field day throwing to the TE's WR's and backs out of the backfield if that is the case.

I really think we win by 3+ scores. ESPECIALLY if they try to load the box on us.
This won't be your daddy's LSU offense, bub.

I'm not this confident. I saw the Clemson game where a team with far less talent than LSU on offense and defense still beat LSU. The head coach was Dabo Shweenie. I think GP is > Dabo Shweenie.

That being said, on the positive side I hope Cam Cameron/Mettenberger has a coming out party and Les doesn't muck this one up somehow.
