I've been considering getting into the shrimp broker business. I live in NWA, Northwest Arkansas, and there is NO fresh shrimp or fish here. I'm about a 12 hour drive from the coast and was wanting information on possible locations for buying fresh shrimp from the boat and costs.
Any info. would be appreciated. Any seafood brokers around?
I should edit and say I'm from NE LA around the Oak Grove area. Born and raised between Bayou Bouef and Bartholemew.

Jason would probably be a good person to talk with, his family was in the wholesale seafood buisness for a long time. He pops on from time to time. A better thread title might help him find it...

Thank ya'll. I've read some of Jason's posts. It's kinda of hard to contact people on here without private messages and such. I'm scared to give my e-mail because of the rantards.

Google Grand Isle wholesale seafood and get about thirty answers.
I have a friend in St Louis who owns a seafood market and once a week he sends a big refrigerated truck to pick up. He does very well but he has been doing it for 25 years or so. He started out driving his pickup down and buying whatever he could fit into ice chests in the back.

Is his name Bob M? If so, I know him too. Or I know another guy in St Louis who does the same thing.
Back to the OP: the LA Seafood Promo board has a "seafood locator" on its website, which has sections for retail, dockside, and wholesale contacts. See it here: LINK

Dean Blanchard Seafood in Grand Isle. They move shrimp out by the truckload every day.
And also, there are Indian Ridge Seafood and Bluewater Seafood up the Chauvin/Dulac area (near Houma).
You should be able to google phone numbers for these guys.
