Just how big is Yao Ming?

I saw him at an ATL area Walmart once and was surprised that he didn't seem gigantic. He certainly was tall, but didn't make the same impression as Shaq since he's a bean pole. :csb:

you think Yao is only 2 inches taller than Ralph?
Ralph looks about 6 inches taller than Dwight, so that makes sense. 6'10 : 7'4
But yao looks 4-5 inches taller than Ralph which would put him 7'8 to 7'9

Yao probably is 7'6" like he is listed as.
Sampson either isn't actually 7'4", or he shrunk a little since he's older... which does happen.
Also, Yao is standing a little closer to the camera. Look at his feet. His back foot is where Sampson's front foot is.

yao looks 7'8'' in this picture...may just be his shoes? but he's not wearing heels.

It has been heavily implied in the past that Dwight isn't even 6'10.

Dwight is 6'11. Hakeem is a tick over 7'0 and Dwight is about an inch shorter than him.

Whats more than likely the case is Sampson was never the 7'4" that he was listed, because Yao Ming was always listed at either 7'5" or 7'6" from the time he was drafted. There's no way he's 7'8" or 7'9".

Hakeem is actually 6'10-6'11.

Can't forget that Dwight was 17-18 when those measurements were taken. Elvin Hayes (far right) was a tick over 6'10 and Dwight is taller than him. Hakeem is a tick over 7' and Dwight is maybe an inch shorter than him.
