Matt Garza (Fresno St) trade from Cubs to Rangers is "99 percent done." Teams going over medical records now. 6 players in the mix

Yu Darvish, Ian Kinsler, Jurickson Profar, Mike Olt, Luke Jackson and a throw in--Craig Gentry.

ETA: Seriously, I wonder if it's Garza and Soriano and money to Texas for Olt, Edwars, Garcia and maybe a player like Craig Gentry.

That could be good or bad.

Good meaning we didn't have to give up any of the big names in our arsenal and have to give up 4 lesser prospects

Bad meaning they asked for a lot and we bit on it

There are rumblings Soriano could be headed to NY.

There was some talk earlier that the rangers took luke jackson off the table, then it came out that the cubs had upped the asking price and had moved on from jackson so they were the ones who took jackson off the table. I'm so confused.

Obviously if 6 players are invovled then we're sending someone else. I like your thinking of sori (with his contract all but paid)

Sending Soriano to Texas AND paying his salary is huge for a Texas team that could lose Nelson Cruz for a long time. It would be an interesting trade if Soriano is included; my guess is that if he's not, it could be Nate (if the Cubs are sending two players).

Does Texas need bullpen help? Maybe it's Russell.

yea after my stand earlier i realize i didn't even leave open the possibility he be an add on type. I would guess it's nate or dejesus (if they'd be willing to take a risk on dejesus)

It's impossible to tell without knowing who the centerpiece is in the Rangers package.

If it's Olt, I have to believe Soriano is involved.

I wonder if the Cubs will get someone as good as Chris Archer in return.

Not saying you're wrong, but even before sori was speculated as part of it, so when it was just garza, most believed it woudl be olt and a pitcher.

Rosenthal said yesterday that there was a 'possibility' that Olt would be involved.

I could be wrong and maybe someone like Gentry or Grimm is the headliner with Olt being a secondary piece. I do not believe that the Rangers are sending 5 prospects though.

Hum...cubs folks have said olt from the get go as being one of the pieces for just garza. Front office isn't super high on olt so they're trying to get a pitcher they like better than olt.

I do know Martin Perez and Luke Jackson are not going to be involved.

That leaves CJ Edwards who has been beasting it up in the Minors and someone like Justin Grimm or Neil Ramirez. They're both around the same age but Ramirez hasn't been able to crack the roster yet.

As I've said many of times on this board I do not believe the Rangers are interested in Soriano even if most of his contract is picked up by the Cubs.

I think it will be something like Garza and Nate (too lazy to attempt the last name) for something along the lines of Ramirez, Sardinas, Edwards, and a throw in.

Just my thoughts.
