Stumbled upon this place on the corner of Vets/Williams, former Primetime location.

Checked out this place last night. It was pretty good. Very similar style menu and food to El Mesquite in Gretna. I asked the waiter and he said the restaurants aren't affiliated, but the owners are friends.

It's brand new and I plan on checking it out. One of my favorite dive Mexican joints in Houston has the same name.

The place will fail, everything in that location has failed.

Give it a shot and report back, Wise. Heaven knows we need some good Mexican spots.

My understanding of Mexican culture leads me to believe that Don Jose may be a common restaurant name.

yeah, I'm pretty sure the name is just a coincidence.

I've been to Don Jose in Kenner twice now and liked it each time.
