Pelicans Minute Allocations

I like to mess around with this and try to see realistically what's going to be going down minutes-wise.
Those of you with big hopes for Rivers, Pierre Jackson, Darius Miller, and Withey might need to re-think things.
Here's my breakdown:
Holiday 35 MPG
Gordon 30 MPG (lol, I know)
Aminu 22 MPG
Davis 35 MPG
Smith 22 MPG
That's 144 minutes per game, leaving 96 minutes per for the rest of the team (240 total).
Ryno 30 MPG
Evans 30 MPG
...that leaves 36 MPG for the other 7 guys on the roster. I'm thinking the Pels would like to continue to get Rivers at least some solid bench run....probably Stiemsma too.
Rivers 13 MPG
Stiemsma 9 MPG
Morrow 10 MPG
This is all just my opinion. These seem like reasonable projections to me, and that leaves 4 MPG for Roberts/Jackson/Miller/Withey combined.
Love the talent we have...gonna be some great competition.
What do y'all think about the rotations?
...Injuries/inevitable Gordon injury changes everything, obviously...I'm looking at a healthy roster in an ideal world.

Are you assuming that Evans will play mostly the three?
Posted on 7/11/13 at 1:09 am to higgsBoson
no...the players all have to get their minutes somewhere, and there are only so many to go around.

Stiemsma is going to get 9 while Smith gets 22? Lol no way

Yeah, I laughed at that. Stiemsma is going to be our starting center and play Robin Lopez minutes.

16 and 15?
20 and 11?
...let me know what you think.
Coaches don't really tend to play starters for 10-ish MPG. Lopez played 26.

based on what? the huge salary we gave him?

35+30+30+13+10+2=120 minutes for guards. only 96 minutes available at the guard spots. So I guess you see tyreke and morrow playing 24 minutes betweek them at SF... half of the game we'll have one of them at SF?
Then we'll have davjs playing 17 mpg at Center(half of his time on court?) with the rest of the time split between smith and stiemsma/withey?

Who do you think is a more natural center? Smith or Stiemsma?

You'd rather Aminu get over half of our SF minutes?

again, based on what?
Smith has been an effective C. He played 17.2 MPG at C last season, and that was with Lopez on the roster.
...you saw Stiemsma block a shot in the playoffs two years ago and you're excited? I like him, but don't act like he's a sure thing to start and take major minutes.

Never said Smith wouldn't play more minutes, just think Stiemsma plays more than 9.

Nice edit to force an insult in.

Sorry...Smith's one of the few vets on this team, and he's been productive when healthy. Stiemsma was a hot get after last season, but he hasn't really done anything more than mediocre...great depth though....definitely a big body we need. JMO

Smith almost played more PF last year than center and will probably continue to fill minutes at both positions when needed.
Stiemsma is just a bigger body. Better defender, better rebounder, better shot blocker. He fills that niche. And he will be called upon a lot when me matchup with some of the bigger bangers at the center position.

I've actually done something similar to this, too. Here's what I projected, assuming health for everyone
Starters:
Holiday-34
Gordon-31
Aminu-24
Davis-34
Stiemsma-15
Bench:
Rivers-16
Evans-31
Morrow-8
Anderson-31
Smith-16
Evans would split his time between SF(16), SG(9), and PG(6)
Rivers would split between SG(8) and PG(8)
Davis would split time at PF(17) and C(17)
I see them playing Rivers over Roberts to attempt to develop him.
Don't see too much time on the floor for Withey or Jackson
