Seems like everyone is sleeping on Mett. Generally viewed as a good QB, but not an elite one (although the talent is there). I think he breaks out this year, big time.

Some LSU fans questioned whether he should retain the starting role, especially following his dismal performance in a 24-19 win at A&M.

Tha frick?

If anybody watched an LSU game last year, I don't know what they wanted from him. We knew he was not mobile from the start, and our pass protection was inconsistent at best. If he has anymore time to throw this year than he did last year, the sky's the limit.

ETA, not to mention drops from our wr corps were rampant and contagious the first half of the season

if our receivers would have caught all of the passes that hit their hands, he would have been considereda hell of a good qb...overthrew too much, though....

Is something going on with him? Will he be eligible for the start of the season? Been something going on with him from what I'm hearing, or is it just stupid rumors?

I don't think anyone is sleeping on him, he has one more year to shine, he was nothing more than average last year. I am a Mett fan, but the article is spot on with the few points that it tried to make.

If he can stop overthrowing the deep ball, he should be ok.

Well considering:

he went 11-of-29 for 97 yards against Texas A&M

That game turned into the Jeremy Hill show.

However, if I recall the ATM game was exceptionally windy. Mett attempted also attempted several deep balls to open receivers that sailed in the wind.

I know everyone talks about the Jarvis Landry catch at Arkansas, but my favorite was Boone's at A&M. The full stretch.

uhhh I wanted a good QB that could read a defense and hit wide arse open WRs at times, and somehow be a decent leader. We got none of that!! Spare me the pass protection and early season drops horse shite. Both of those issues improved throughout the season, unlike Mett's play. He's not garbage by any means, but he's not good either.

We should've recruited Drew Brees. I bet you also wanted Miles' arse fired more than a few times last season as well

ETA And for the record, I thought JJ and JLee were pretty terrible. *crosses fingers that this doesn't turn into one of those threads*

You should probably root for another team The entire offense around him was a mess at the start of SEC play. Once the offense finally got experienced (the last 4 games of the regular season), Mett played much much better.

Mett improved a ton over the course of the year. He owned the bama game.

If he can improve his deep throws then the offense will be very very dangerous. Also having some taller targets like leslie and dural will help as well.

He was very good in spots and the playcalling did him no favors (hopefully Cam can fix that) but he does need to improve particularly on his touch. I think he can do it.
