replaced the display on iphone and colors are all wrong

So of course I cracked my screen on my 4s. bought an icracked repair kit and installation went ok, but the new screen has a lot of horizontal lines and color issues. responds to touch, everything else works. I made sure that the flex cables are not pinched. the connections to the mobo are all secure.
If the screen itself were defective I would expect it to not work at all or to be bad in one area. thinking its something with the connections. ideas?

Yes, check the connections, check to see if there's any leftover glass from the cracked screen that might be wedged between the new display and the phone housing (had this happen to me before). Double check everything was reassembled correctly and that nothing else is broken.
Other than that, it's not like a defective display would be surprising.

Agreed, that really sounds like a bad connection or a bad screen

well it was deffinitely the display itself. broke it down again and checked everything. reassembled and no better. Installed old cracked screen and colors were correct. Glad I bought it through amazon, the manufacturer charges a restocking fee and they don't respond to emails. Kit was super nice though. Now to decide if I order another or just leave it alone.

Most likely a defective LCD. Most iphone 4 and 4s repair kits are hit and miss with quality. I've found one on ebay that I've used for the past couple months and haven't had any problems

I've ordered tons of super cheap iphone parts on ebay and all of them worked perfectly. I've ordered maybe 5 screens from different sellers over the past year or two. (for other people's phones, not mine)
