That makes them want to catch rabbits with venomous snakes or deer with their bare hands.

I've seen this guy doing stupid stuff before. He only half knows what he's talking about and does most of it for shock value.
That said, the rabbit technique is used all the time in Europe, except with ferrets rather than snakes.
