With my birthday recently I got a lot of gift cards to Academy, BPS, and Cabelas. I figure a good use of them would be a new spinning reel.

Wanted some OB recommendations. Some that I was already looking at are the Shimano Sedona

Abu Revo S

Shimano Stradic

and Penn Battle

What's the OB like?

Don't worry about price. I got A LOT of gift cards.

Assuming this is for inshore mostly, I'd go with a penn 4300 ssm.

Eta: stradics are great as well.

I had more trouble with them than I should have. Maybe it was me using the 1500's, not sure. I wouldn't buy them again and don't have to, strictly BC's now.

Those are all pretty solid reals.

I am partial to Shimano. Depends on which you can get the best deal on.

Shimano Symetre 2500 is the one I just ordered from Sportsmans Guide. I would recommend any higher end Shimano

Bought a Shimano Symetre 3000 this spring. Sweet reel for the price.
