Slickback
thats a great one Im very proud to be W.T. ChandlerIII
Colt
he was very lucky he got injured at boganville.
after he was sent to pearl harbour to recover, 90% of his division (not platoon) died taking a beach
in the pacific.

Indeed he was a vital part of The Greatest Generation.

thanks for reading. its a little long but a great read.
even better to me cause its powpow
i spent about 8hrs last night reading some first hand accounts of beach landings in the pacific.
Its amazing the courage they had to be able to walk into the hell of taking a beach that is fortified. the enemy has the high groumd and youre out in the open.
I try to imagine it and I always thank God for their courage.
I dont believe todays generation could do the things they had to do.

My thoughts exactly. Today's generation at the same age as your PowPow have no idea what it even means to break sweat doing anything.

If the shite hit the fan again like it did then, my generation would be able to handle it for our country.

Todays fighting is totally dif than they had to face.
almost half of a million young men volunteered in
the first few months of wwII how many volunteered after 911.
not saying we dont have brave troops now but they will never be called the GREATEST GENERATION.
Todays gen is the reason for the pussification of America (not our troops) that will never be said about our powpows
and mowmows.

Great Post Greasemonkey....
Thanks for sharing that with the board. The sacrifices made by your grandfather and his generation can never be recounted or acknowledged enough.

I just dont see MOST of todays kids having the grit
to take a beach head like this
out of a 1000 men in my powpows div they lost 912
men in ONE beach landing in the coral sea

you couldnt find the amount of brave young men today
to do what they did.
we have lots of brave americans but IMHO not near as many as back then.
times Are different
