I've got a little notebook/word document that i write in when i have a brewing idea. It's filled with brewery names, beer names, ingredients, recipe ideas, etc... One day, hopefully, i could open up a brewery. Until then, i'm trying to nail down some recipes.

My first try at a self made recipe for an IPA was successful.
Next is an Oatmeal Stout.
Then a Saison. But that won't be until next year, i believe.

Out of the tap, i'd disagree with you. In cans, i kind of agree. I still don't know how that beer can taste entirely different between tap and cans.

It really is interesting how different the approaches for the 2 NWLA breweries are, since Great Raft is just going all out in the beginning, while Red River is keeping it a very small production, with plans to grow as demand increases

That's how i'd do it. I'd start off with Nano-brewery production first. Once i get a following for the beers, then i'd think about quitting my job and going full production.

I have a question. Let's say NWLA gets in a BR situation where the only local brewery is average on its best day. Is it better to still support the brewery so that local stores, bars, and distributors jump on board and see the potential of local brewries, or is it better to not support it and let it die?

unless the product is just horrible, I'll still probably support it

having an average local brewery is still better than having no local brewery, IMO

This.

I have a feeling though, that with the few a-hole craft brew beer drinkers in this town, we will probably ride their asses until they get their beer right.

But how? I support Tin Roof, via word of mouth. But i will not buy any of their canned beers, and the only beer of theirs i want to try again is juke joint IPA, because i had it only once at New Orleans beer festival.

I have secret hopes that the owners/brewers would come to this site and listen to the suggestions soem of us have. I have a feeling they kind of did, with their Pale Ale, but it is still nothing outstanding.

order the beer in restaurants instead of Abita, which is the only LA beer available up here in restaurants in the vast majority of them, a few have NOLA blonde and brown, but those are still average, so I'd probably go with the local brew if offered

and I'll buy a 6er of Tin Roof Blonde or NOLA Blonde every now and then for large gatherings or parties to drink in large consumption. Depending on the style, I'd probably go with the local brew over those for those types of events.

Unless you got the money to go full production... then you'd go for it.

Correct. Andrew at Parish will be the first person to tell you that a nano brewery makes absolutely no money at all. So if you have themoney you go full scale
