Open face spinning reels with "trigger"

Looking for suggestions on open face spinning reels that have a "trigger" mechanism that releases the bale, which allows for one handed operation.

Is a POS! Will break in short term. I never bought one that lasted more then 2-3 outing. Ended up removing that crap.

Triggers are awful. It will break but long before it breaks it will start to stick and you'll end up having to help it with your other hand anyway.

Triggers usually start sticking. I thought the trigger was a great idea as well, but sucks when it sticks.

i have a shimano ultra light with a trigger that has given me several trouble-free years. they are fine for fresh water but DONT'T take them into salt water. shimano's salt water series of reels don't even have a trigger option.

Put the trigger option down and walk away quickly! Agree with other posters - had a couple of good outings with them but they always broke or stuck soon after using them and i just ended up flipping the bail anyway.

Shimano Spyrex is about the best option there is. Like others have said, the trigger mechanism isn't nearly as great as it seems.

What everyone here has said already.

Its not that difficult. My 8 year old can cast one just fine without a trigger.

A bail-less Van Staal is a much better option for one handed operation.

One handed operation? How do you reel? With your teeth? And if you reel with your other hand, is that hand so busy between the time that your just reeled the bait in and the time to reel again as to not be able to open the bail?

They always break. I had a couple pfleuger ones that broke pretty quick. Then it just turns into a regular spinning reel

+1 had one for a couple of years, never really had a problem, they aren't tanks by any means but should handle normal abuse

Thanks for the info. I was considering this for my wife who has trouble remembering to open the bail before casting.
