What is missing in country music today

The actual country BAND. not a trio like rascal flatts, the band perry, and others.
What the hell happened to bands? Sons of the Desert, Desert Rose Band, Restless Heart, Burnin' Daylight, Boy Howdy, etc.
county music has suffered greatly since the band has left.
Also, you dont hear the classic guitar riffs you used to hear as late as the 90s anymore. Now every guitar player in country music plays rock style and insists on using les pauls and PRS's. bring back telecasters to country music, for the love of God.

I miss the drinking, cheating, and done me wrong songs.
Country has gotten caught up in all the crossover BS. Half are crossing over to rock, while the other half are crossing over into Rap/R&B, and they all are crossing over into pop.

That's what I liked so much about the older stuff. It was like I could feel exactly what they were talking about, although I never went through a rough breakup, cheated - or was cheated on, or was an alcoholic.
Very few other genres had that effect on me. A few rock songs or other songs here and there, but the old country really stood above the rest to me.

It's missing songs about love and loss.
Every song, like others have stated above, is about driving in your pickup truck out in the sticks to a bonfire while drinking moonshine and listening to Hank with a "purty gurl" ridin shotgun.
A lot of ballads are still listenable, but every up-tempo song is the same in sound and lyrics.

Some heart, grit, and reality is what's missing. Current country music seems very sterile, plastic, and manufactured in the same way as pop boy bands and Britney Spears clones.

I don't mind the "rock and roll" sound as much as others. It's the word-for-word repetition over about half the chart on any given week that makes it unlistenable on a large scale.

There is decent country out there. You just have to search places other than radio. Nothing beats the greats though Willie and Waylon and David Allen Coe.

If you want an example of how country radio right now is pushing the true traditional artist out......
Most agree that George Strait is greatness. Usually when he puts out a single, it's good enough to be a bona fide hit. His latest single 'Give It All We Got Tonight' has only creeped up the charts and a lot of that is due to a grass roots effort. If you are one who listens to mainstream country (I do a good bit) on the radio, do you hear Strait's new song? No you don't. But Florida Georgia Line can have 2 songs in the country top 10 and Shelton is on 2 top 10 songs as well.
I'm not saying chart position is what it's all about but when some of the shite that gets major airplay passes up King George, that's just wrong. Maybe George knows this is the time to retire.

I like a lot of stuff out there. I can always throw on the old stuff. The current stuff is different than old for sure but it has its place in my library. I like eric church and luke bryan a lot

I looooove Will Hoge. Still one of the best shows I've ever been to, and he is super sweet and down to earth.
