I, like many, wasn't thrilled with the hired. I thought he was too similar to GW with his big mouth and super aggressive schemes.

But as time as passed, I've grown more receptive to the hire. From the few pictures I've seen, him and CSP seem to get along well. I think GW rubbed some of the staff the wrong well and there appeared to be friction between the staff and players with Spags. So to have good relationships with both will be nice. Ryan seems to be a passionate yet receptive guy.

Is anyone still sour about it?

Still too soon to tell. Was not a big fan of the hire.

I was originally not a big fan of the meet/hire because I wanted one of the defensive coaches from san fran.

After that was out the window, I was pretty happy because I know he has a decent track record and as long as he can keep his mouth shut I won't hate him like how I hate rex

I was equally Un-excited about Ryan as excited I was about the switch to the 34. Hopefully he can get me excited about both.

Still not a big fan because he's not fielded good defenses, ever

but maybe it'll change here.

It is really still too early...I decided from now on I'm only going to like things if they're positive...

I think (at the very least) his style fits our players strengths and personalities. That may be enough.

I like it much more than I did before, but I'm still speculative.

I wasn't sour about it, but I'm not getting happy yet neither. I won't be happy until I see a defense on the field that gives me something to be happy about. I want less missed tackles. Less over pursuing LB's and DB's playing the ball wrong and being caught out of position to make a play. Better pass rush by the Dline.

Here's my stance: I was not excited at all. Ryan was probably the last of the 3-4 coaches I wanted. Therefore, it's likely the best hire possible

At first I was concerned that he was going to turn this into a spectacle given the Ryan brothers an all, but it appears as though he went right to work.

I am feeling optimistic now.

He's fielded one or two solid defenses. The Raiders 2006 defense was his best iirc. Nonetheless, I agree he does not have a great track record.

Same here. Pretty much sums up my draft pics as well.

It's kind of like guys moving up/down star rankings out of season in recruiting: little to nothing is happening to warrant an opinion change.

Anyone who thinks he's a bad hire in Feb should feel the same way today...unless your opinion of an NFL DC hinges on his ability to run drills at a college's pro day, of course.
