dead on at 25....going to take it to 50 at the range later this week...nikon 3x9x40 on it.....overkill I know....that scope will be moved to my next 7mm08 that I get.

...one major problem is that I just shot the last of my 40 grain......I have another 1300 rounds but not my standard CCI 40 grain lead tip....

Usually just 25. There isn't much I wanna shoot with a .22 beyond that.

25 yards. Not much fall at 50. It's past 80 where they really start falling fast.

However far it is from the front porch at the camp to the cottonwood tree. I guess about 20 yards.

Used exclusively for squirrel executions.

With .22's, it really depends upon the particular rifle (type of sights and especially barrel length).

I have my grandfathers old turn-of-the-century long barrel .22 with 4 riflings. That one is sighted at 75 yds and it accurate to 100 (iron sights).

My son's old 1960's vintage Targetmaster is sighted for 50 yards (accurate out to about 85-90 yds)

My daughter's standard modern .22 is sighted for 30 yards (only accurate to about 65 yds).

("accurate" = ability to fatally hit a crow from the back door of the house every single time)

I've found that I get the best ricochet off of bones with perfect velocity to still travel up arteries at 72 yards.
