Brighter future: Houston or the Pelicans?

Houston is a very young team too but they are going to make the playoffs this year. These are our rivals amd I hate the Rockets and I could see both of these two teams battling it out for the division crown amd playoff positioning every year in the next 2 years or so.
Both teams have some nice young pieces to build around. We have more cap to make ourselves that much better though. So I say all of this to being this discussion (all bias aside): Which team has s brighter future as far as being a contender down the road in two-three years?
If we keep Gordon and he gets healthy, I say us.

Probably Houston. I didn't realize the Lin contract worked out the way it does. They're more talented and they have plenty of money to spend.

Is this really a question, have you seen the season James Harden is having, and they are only getting better. You know when youre having to deabte whether you should start tanking or not your future isnt looking very bright

You have to give Morey props. He went from should have been fired already to GM of the year in an instant. I'd say their window is a little bit different than the Hornets because Harden is a full stage ahead of Davis career wise and they have most of their starting lineup in place already. By the time Davis reaches his 2nd contract like Harden the Pelicans could be at the exact same place, but since Houston has already gotten their and there is still potential for Demps to make mistakes, I guess you have to give the brighter future label to the Rockets.

Right now? Definitely Houston. Harden will be the best 2 guard in the league within the next 3 years once Kobe's body catches up to his age. Davis will be great, as will Ryan Anderson, but honestly after them I don't see anything. I have a hard time envisioning Eric Gordon getting better because injuries have undoubtedly sapped him of a lot athleticism which he needs as a penetrating guard, and he's not nearly the creator that Harden or Kobe are. Rivers career will look clearer after next season. Lopez is decent, but he can't hang with legitimate centers because he doesn't have the coordination or athletic ability to do so. Vasquez can be a starter as long as his starting 2 is a good ball handler and scorer. Plus, we have no idea what our SF position will look like.
There are a ton of questions concerning this roster, and none of the answers have really become any clearer. Since Dell and Monty have taken over, there has been a lot of roster turnover and very little time for any combination of this team to really mesh with each other. When you think about it, you wonder, "Where is our core?" Obviously Davis and Anderson, but they are not enough, and neither have proven to be All-Star players much less Superstar players yet, though that is not to say they will not be in the future. Is Vasquez really your point for the future? Is Lopez going to continue to take minutes away from Davis and Anderson? Will Gordon ever live up to his contract? Will we ever have a complete player at small forward? Will Monty Williams's "defense first" ever yield consistent results, and will he ever figure out how to make in-game adjustments? Right now, the answers to most of those questions are leaning to the wrong side, but all hope is not lost because there is always next season. However, if we miss the playoffs again next year and still have Gordon underachieving, our Hornets/Pelicans are in trouble.

Houston has the best player of the two teams. In a couple of years, they will have some decisions to make though. Asik and Lin will be in contract years and Asik will be looking for closer to 13 mil.

Houston...but I still think Davis develops into a top 5 big man in the next 2-3 seasons. The sooner the Pelicans ditch Gordon, the better. Even when he is healthy he's no more than a guy who puts up good numbers for crappy teams. He's not a winner IMO. Get what you can and give Davis the keys.

i think next offseason will determine this
houston can still sign a max guy. if they get a 4 who fits with asik and their 2 guards, they could do some shite (assuming montejunas and parsons keep developing)

if pelicans can either flip eric gordon for some valuable sf/sg pieces and AD develops and plays consistently like how he did tonight, it'll be a close call.
